Hey,hey!

Hello fellow fitness addicts! I'm new to this site & born again to fitness in general (about 6 months now) and must say it really is becoming part of my life and not just a hobby anymore!

I'm a reformed smoker (also 6 months) and have done a complete 180 with my nutrition along with regimented weight training I do at home.

Right now I'm at a sort-of crossroads as to whether or not I want to get really-ripped or stay the course (I'm considering an anabolic diet). I have to watch my sodium intake per the Doc so anabolic might be tough.

Allllrighty, well - I look forward to chatting with you guys and finding some good info along the way

Best! JD

Welcome to the site, I gave up smoking too, probably about the same time you did, I don't regret it (although I'd still love one right now :()

Stick with it and good luck

Thanks! Good Luck to you, too. I quit for a year before so I have some time yet to be too proud. This time seems different though, I really don't miss it anymore.

Welcome to the site! Glad to have you here!

What exercise program did you decide to do in those six months? What sort of diet plan? What were/are your goals?

Congrats on quitting smoking brotha!

I was told by my Dr. that I have borderline HBP and that I need to stop smoking & cut the salt intake or I'd be on HBP meds (I'm 38 - no way man!)...I went full-blown. I quit using Chantix and my diet consists now of a much more nutrient balanced, 5-6 times a day regiment. Lots of fruit / veggies, grains & protein. I use the Daily Plate to track calories, carbs, fat, sugar, protein, fiber, cholesterol and of course, salt.

My exercise plan is full-body weight training 90 min/day 3x/wk + 15 min of stretching - (it was 4x/wk but I'm too busy to keep it). I started off with info based on building-muscle101.com website, Weight Training for Dummies & another book whose name escapes me right now but has great routines for stretching & busy day exercises.

I feel I'm getting a little stagnate in my routine and need a change. I have a treadmill, exercise ball, about 100# in used free weights and some light dumbells & a very basic weight machine (125# max) I bought right after I quit smoking.

I want more definition, strength & stamina while maintaining a healthy diet. I have a ruler body (as defined by iVillage health) I'm 38 years old, 5'11", 180 - 185, BMI around 25 and BF around 30% according to my scale (I was in the low 170 lb range before I started lifting & eating more & healthier - I'm hoping it's good weight ;) )

I welcome your comments
Any suggestions?

PS - thanks for the links
