Weight loss complaint

Chillen? ;)

Good comments about ones progress can be a huge motivator (I make posts to many people making these comments all the time); however, I think its safe to say, this "by itself" isnt enough. The inner being in my opinion is the motivator if it sets a cognitve growth approach.

Chillen

Chillen do you have a degree in psychology by any chance?

Forgot to add: For Christmas, I got a bunch of awesome clothes, and I told them to buy me a size large shirt and 36 waist pants. The shirts are a bit tight and do not plan on wearing them until I have a better looking body, but I can wear the pants, since I can even wear a size 34 waist. So this falls under BSL's #9 :)

Since it was asked:

I dont say this but very rarely, but yes I a degree: 3 of them.

Two Bachelor degrees and one Master degree. One bachelor degree is in Psychology and a minor in Philosophy. The other bachelor degree is in Computer Science as is the Master degree. I have over 230 college credit hours.

This can partially explain the way I am, LOL. :)

And yet the atrocities committed against the English language continues at an alarming rate. Why Chillen, why???????? ;):D

We all appreciate the insightful nature of his divine Chillness....but honestly, this was just a light-hearted thread for fun, I even broke it off and started another thread so everyone can add to it. It's good to be serious and evaluate things to gain a greater perspective...but it's also good to cut-loose and have some fun sometimes.

Lately I've come to realize what a double-standard we have when it comes to appearnaces. Woman are seemingly expected to always look great, have slender bodies and reflect what we see in magazines. I know I won't be offended any men here, because we're all here to be in shape...that said, look at the average guy: overweight, dresses like a slob and doesn't do much...yet he expects to date a model.

I don't want to get into a debate over who has it worse when it comes to society, double-standards, etc.

I just want to point out that there is often just as much pressure from media sources on men to look, dress and be a certain way. If you've read any men's magazines (things like Men's Health, for example) I think it's pretty clear that these are just as awful about telling guys exactly what they are supposed to look like as any woman's magazine.

I know that biology affects what men versus women view as hot, so in some ways, the focus on appearance does seem to create more of an onus on women. And I don't discount male expectations created by things like Judd Apatow or Adam Sandler movies. That said - how many more posts of "How can I get 6 pack abs?" do we need to see before we can ditch the idea that society & the media suggest to men that they are fine if they are overweight & dress like a slob?

Just saying that the pressure it out there for everyone, and I think Chillen summed it up best that the key is listening to that inner voice...

...Ok. Serious time is over. Hehe. How about adding to your list:

- Having people keep asking you if you are losing weight & telling you that you look better each time - even when you aren't even losing weight anymore. Hehehe.

I bet Chillen didn't have to look up the word onus in the dictionary like I did! teeheehee:11doh::11doh::11doh:

I am just jealous of all your degrees (and your abs).

Very good point Sig....

Recently I had some laser hair removal done on my back. Despite the use of numbing-cream, it was still like hot needles being shoved into my skin. To me, this is like getting a hint of what woman go through in order to ante'-up and play the game.

Sure, men should be fit, thin, maybe have a 6-pack, dress nice and have a sharp haircut, etc. But look around at any restaurant and I think you'll notice many or most guys dressed pretty sloppy, simple and just making a modest effort. Most everything we wear is comfortable. We shave and maybe splash on some cologne...that's about it. Most guys can go from sloth to wedding-ready in 20 minutes easy.

Woman....don't get them started. Laser-everything on the body, fancy hair with multiple styles depending on the occassion, time with make-up, revealing outfits that hide nothing and couldn't be too comfortable (riding up, sliding down, slipping out, chaufing against, etc) and then to top it off they're expected to slip into shoes that are as practical as trying to light a fire during a hurricane and inevitably destroy their ankles. Dress too nice and the other gals call you a ho, dress down and they scoff.

Nahh....you gotta give it up for the woman who get it together and make it happen. In my quest to lose weight and look better, I'm just barely beginning to appreciate and understand it.

Note to self: stop watching Oprah while on the Elliptical machine, back to the History channel ;)

I remember when I started I was wearing a 38 to 40 pant size, and a medium shirt would fit loosly. Now, I am a 29" to 30" and wear a large shirt comfortably. Now, if I can figure out the problem with my dang legs not responding like my upper body during my journey then this would be a blessing. I paid just as much attention to them as I did the rest. Its work in progress. I have net gained 6 pounds during my bulk period, and presently sitting at 9.2% BF (checked professionally today at my docs office during my checkup) and the goal is 7%. I swear practically all the weight is in the shoulders, back, and chest. Im reading on alot of material of late to figure this problem out.

On a different note: We should have some "calculated degree of concern" on how we look. One example is applying for a job. Whether one accepts this or not, this is a marketing adventure. You are selling a product: YOU. And, how one looks plays a key role whether accepted or not.

I opened a twist tab bottle with my abs once, lol. Just to see if I could.

Now, thats weird.....Okay, I am checking myself in.......shutup. :)

Chillen,

We've got a few jars of spaghetti sauce that we can't get the tops to come off. We've tried knocking the bottom, hitting the rim with a knife and even soaking in hot water. These jars just defy every known technique to get them to budge.....every technique except the Chillamatic.

I'll have my people UPS them out to you later today. Pics are good, video better! :D :D :D :D
