Sport Protein in deli meat

Sport Fitness
Hi everyone. I'm weight training and have started to alter my diet to include lots of fish and lean meats. I was just wondering what kind/s of meat in the deli section of super markets contain the most protein and the least fat. At the moment I'm eating thin slices of 'ham leg premium' on a sandwich, daily. It's confusing because theres a whole ranged of sliced meats like roast beef, pastrami, chicken breast etc. Because I'm not buying it in a packet theres no way for me to find out the nutritional info. Also, does 'premium cut' necessarily mean the meat is lean? All of this is a bit new to me. I'll appreciate any feedback. thanks.

Google "nutrient information for X meat". Or you could go to fitday.com and just use their database.

" theres no way for me to find out the nutritional info " - not true

You can find the info you're looking for on this site ( and others like it ) under ' Luncheon Meats '

But, as a general rule, if you select most foods with under 3 grams of fat per 100 calories, you should be fine.

And if still in doubt about the fat content, then just choose ' Luncheon Meats ' that are deemed to be ' lean ' or ' extra lean ' on the packaging or on display / ' advertised ' in the deli case.

Check the sodium too, most deli meat is sky high on sodium

Actually, that's a good point GOOCH.....when folks are weighing the ' pros and cons ' of the various protein options available to them, that's an important one to take into account....along with fat.

I eat turkey deli slices for my protein
.5 fat
5 grams of protein
30 calories
but around 310 mg of sodium.
