What's up everybody. Just wanted to introduce myself. First of all the name is Connor and I'm super excited to be here and get to know some of y'all.

Just a little bit about me, I don't want this post to be too long:

Name: Connor
Age: 27
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 190.2

Goal: 165ish

Just a little background on me, I've always considered myself to be a pretty active/athletic person. Always have played pretty much any sport and have always enjoyed trying to get a workout in on a near daily basis for most of my adult life so far. Exercising and trying to workout has been my go-to "sport" for the last 4 or 5 years I guess.

As far as myself I wouldn't say I've ever been small, fairly average sized but probably always have been a little heavier than I wanted or needed to be, but I wouldn't say to an alarming degree. For the most part the previous 3 or 4 years I've been able to hang in the 170-175 range but for the most of the past year my diet has kept me above the 180-185 range, with the 190.2 that I hit today being an all time high.

I'm not too concerned about my weight, I know that I have lost weight in the past and know that I can do it again. I mostly just wanted to join some kind of community to have some accountability for what I'm putting into my body, regardless of what the scale says.

Like the title says too, this year I've really found a love for triathlon training and have big dreams of one day soon being able to compete in my first 70.3 race, I know my diet's going to play a big role in that and I'm hoping that being part of this community can help me make that dream a reality sooner rather than later!

That's probably enough for now. I have a swim workout in a couple hours that I'll throw on here later, but I'm looking forward to being part of this community and getting to know the rest of you along this journey!

Hi, Connor & welcome to the forum. You will find lots of support in the forum, but you may benefit from seeing a qualified nutritionist to match your nutrition to your exercise.

Awesome Connor and welcome! I too am looking to get into triathlons, though covid canceled my first (a tinman). I am hoping to work my way up to ironman distances for 2022.

That's awesome! Triathlon's addicting isn't it? Keep up the hard work!

Finished my swim workout a couple hours ago. Workout #15 on 100swimmingworkouts. Went about 2,300 yards. It was my first time swimming with fins and paddles so overall was a pretty easy workout. Had a nice surprise on the last set. Went for a max distance effort, with my previous best only ever being 300 yards in a pool. Today without the fins or paddles at the end of the workout I was able to go 1,000 yards in about 25 minutes with no rest! Absolutely crushed my PR. Been doing a lot of Zone 2 training lately and maybe it's starting to pay off!

Day 1 Diet:

Breakfast: Couple cups of Coffee

Lunch: Chicken with sides of coleslaw and pasta salad

Dinner: Chicken Fried Rice

Snacks: Mixed Nuts

TBH I'll never be the type of person to count calories or macros or blocks or anything like that. The best I've felt when watching my diet was just making sure to cut out the junk and making wise choices with what I put into my body, with best results coming on a mostly Paleo type diet. When I was hungry I ate and stopped when I felt full. Most likely will be my focus this time as well.

Right now my greatest struggles are with fast food while I'm out working as well as alcohol when I get home from work. Not a heavy drinker, but I do like to have a beer or whiskey most days after work. I know it's killing my sleep and making me feel super tired during the day.

Hopefully I'll be able to stay on top of it and make the changes!

10/28 Day 2:

Morning Weigh-In weight: 187.4

Breakfast: Couple cups of coffee & couple pieces of bacon
Snack: $1 bag of pistachios
Lunch: Chicken, Cole Slaw and Pasta Salad leftovers again
Dinner: Potato & Broccoli Soup

Drank water and a bottle of Kombucha the rest of the day.

Workout:

37 minute Down Regulation Class with Kelly Starrett on his app The Ready State. Been focusing more this week on stretching and rehab every other day trying to get my body right and Kelly puts out incredible content!

Final Thoughts: Felt a little better today. Know I got a better night of sleep last night, woke up with less bags under my eyes. Had a little more energy and generally felt like I was in a better mood throughout the day. Still took a short nap when I got home from work but didn't feel too worn down. Had a little trouble falling asleep last night but I'm sure it's just because my sleep schedule/habits have been so bad lately. Hopefully tonight will be better!

Overall feel good about the day. Was able to reject any junk and fast food and alcohol for the second day in a row. I'll continue to get my diet honed in and back on track but I'm just glad to have a little motivation and will power when it comes to my diet again!

Hey Connor, how is the training progressing? I just signed up for an Olympic distance triathlon for September and it made me think of you...
