HI all!!! New to the forum and thought I’d make a diary to meet people and maybe get advice!! Also to keep myself accountable :)

How much weight do you want to lose?
40 pounds! (current weight 198 pounds, height 5"11)

-- What is the timeframe for reaching your target weight?
End of 2020!

-- How do you want to accomplish your goal (what methods do you want to use)?
* calorie reduction
* staying active
-- Who or what can support you in reaching your goal?
I've struggled with my weight for years! I’ve always been pretty active - biking/walking since I go to school in a big city!
But my major issue is eating! I’ve moved back to my parents home during this pandemic and eating in moderation is so hard when there’s so much snacks around! I feel like I’m NEVER full after meals anymore and I’m always looking to snack. CHIPS are my biggest weakness! I feel no matter how active I stay my snacking is counteracting my progress!
Hope this forum can give me motivation to reach my goals!

-- When will you start?
my highest weight was 240 pounds in May 2019- since then I’ve lost 42 pounds because I’ve moved out for school and found I was much busier and had less time to snack - and I would make sure not to buy snacks and junk food when I did groceries- plus I walk everywhere ! I think this really helped me lose the weight! I went out to eat here and there but I was more consistent! I wasn’t doing anything special but was losing the weight and have gotten so many comments about it- snacking is truly MY WEAKNESS!
I need motivation or advice on limiting my calories!! And not snacking when there’s sooooo much snacks around!! Ugh!! It’s easier when I wasn’t around it but now I am!

Hey Summer welcome, and congrats on the big weight loss! 42 lbs down is great.

Your goal seems reasonable and achievable, tell us more about your food and exercise plan. Knowing your age and sex would help too.

I sure understand that feeling. The only successful way I have found to dealing with snacking is not to do it except when planned and calories carefully counted. No exceptions. It was hard at first, and still is from time to time, but once the habit is broken it is easier.

Best of luck to you!

Hey there!!! Thanks for the questions and support!
I am Female and 24!
I walk about 1 hour a day in the morning after my coffee and I bike 30 mins in the evening. I don’t like doing home workouts I can only see myself being active if I’m outside!
I’ve only started this routine 2 weeks ago- so I havent seen too much results yet but hoping to keep at it and track my progress here!

In terms of food I don’t really have a meal plan I just track my calories on an app and try to aim for 1500-1800 a day! Not sure if this is too high but I’m pretty tall ( 5’11) and can’t see myself eating less than this LOL!!

Hi, Summer & welcome to the forum. Congratulations on losing 42 lbs already. Your plan sounds achievable & cutting down the snacking would make a really big difference. I try to eat 3 healthy & substantial proper meals every day & don't actually snack. After lunch & dinner, I often have a small fruit platter, with the occasional sweet biscuit. On Sunday night I will have about 4-6 squares of chocolate as a treat. Snacking really adds up as does soda. If you stay active & cut down snacking, you should lose weight on 1500-1800 calories a day. Establishing healthy long-term eating patterns is the key & something you can stick to is really important. It has to suit you.
You should find lots of valuable support in the forum. We're a pretty good cheer squad :)

Welcome Summer and congratulations on already having lost more than half what you wanted to lose! Not snacking at all works best for me as well. I find I have a lot more control over myself if I eat whatever it is I want after a meal. Also: calculating the calories before I start eating those chips often helps. As does writing down what I ate in my diary. No sneaky eating (I live alone so it would be very easy). Best of luck with your plans, good to have you on board :)

Today I woke up extremely hungry!! And my sister wanted to go out for breakfast - which I wanted to give in to. I made my morning coffee and drank it and that kind of curbed my appetite and I decided NO! To sugary pancakes and waffles. I’m making chicken for lunch (I just have coffee for breakfast- I tend to skip morning meal because it just makes me feel sick after and I eat WAYYY more when I eat breakfast). Hoping to go for a walk then eat my lunch! :) that is all

Today I had coffee and had a small lunch. Found a new trail nearby I’m going to explore with my bike. Havent seen the scale move but I’m feeling overall better and healthier so that’s ok! Staying optimistic. I even turned down starbucks FRAP so that’s huge (I loveee them but 600 calories a drink!!?? No THANK U!)

More important than seeing the scales move! Good for you, keep it up and your weight will go down!

Good for you turning down the Starbucks drink. The only thing I drink from Starbucks is black coffee, its not bad but too expensive.

Keep up the good work!

Something that's 600 calories is not a drink. It's not even a dessert as it has the calories of a decent meal. Never had one so it's easy for me talk of course :p
