Alligatorob's Diary

15 laps again today, it was a little harder than yesterday, but I made it.

Thanks Petal, this is beautiful country, no doubt, mountains, canyons, and wide open spaces. I have to remind myself of that when I get to missing Florida. What Utah lacks is a lot of greenery and salt water, both of which I know you have. Cannabis is legal on both sides of Utah, in Colorado and Nevada. It makes the very conservative Mormon population here a bit nervous, doesn't bother me. Like a lot of people my age I tired it when I was young, but not again for a long time. This summer I was in Oregon, where it is legal, with my brother's family and they had it. I did try it again, but have not continued. It seemed quite strange being legal, used openly, and all the new ways of consuming it. Is it legal in Europe? Not much progress with the stepson, his lawyers got the court date pushed out to December 4, some legal strategy in that I don't understand. So we are still hoping it works out for him.

Flyer, no I don't wear gloves, but I am thinking about it. My fingers feel a bit tingly after the ride, I am thinking gloves might help. Why do you recommend them?

Amy, being able to climb stairs is important in our house. It is not well laid out and we have 2 separate, unconnected, upstairs areas, each with their own set of stairs. The stairs I usually go up and down is higher than normal, 15 steps, I have been up them 3 or 4 times already today. We also have 2 unconnected basements, each with its own stairs, and some outside steps. So being able to more easily get up and down them really helps. LaMa, you are right it seems to be making my legs very happy.

Rob it’s illegal here although it is widely available . But we are a rebellious lot . We get away with lots of things really . I double park most days I know I shouldn’t but everyone does it . I’m personally not much more rebellious than that though lol .
I have not tried marijuana maybe would do if offered it . I don’t know really .
The next episode is set in California so I’ll be keeping an eye out for Marsia ! Lovely programme to watch .
Good job on the bike and the stairs .

It is illegal in Australia except for 1 territory, It is legal in Canberra, When I lived there it was only decriminalized, but all all of my friends smoked it and we had a couple of plants in the back yard. However a neighbour got charged with supply because his 1 plant was a large tree taller than the house lol.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good. Doing 15 laps on the bike felt particularly good. Winter has pulled back a little, this week promises to be more normal Utah fall, which can be quite nice.

Mac Beathaidh mac Ainmire, Chief Ollam of Ireland, died in 1041. Little seems to be know about Mac Beathaidh except that he died in 1041 and was the Chief Ollam of Ireland. An Ollam was a poet or bard of literature and history. The King and all Chiefs had their own Ollams. The Chief Ollam was the head of all the Ollams, and the social equal of the King. Apparently poets did better in mid evil Ireland than they do today. Irish Chiefs and Kings were supposed to give food and gifts to the Ollamhs. If they refused they were satirized. So they seemed to make a living by extortion to avoid making up derogatory ditties about people. An interesting idea.

Wouldn't some politicians love it if they could get out of satire that way? Of course these days we'd make fun of them extra for being so thin-skinned.

Good facts today Rob . I like the Irish twist . The limerick poems kind of took over from the little ditty’s.

There once was a man who liked riding
His bike whilst slipping and sliding
His name was Rob
He lived in Utah
And kept all us dieters in awe .

Women probably weren’t allowed, but I wouldn’t have minded a gig as a Chief Ollam. Although a modern day equivalent might be Rupert Murdoch, so I take that back, lol.

15 laps again today, it felt good.

I've been trying to time myself just to see how long I am riding. I have not figured out how to use the stopwatch function on my phone, it turns off with the phone after a couple of minutes, but today I just looked at the clock. My 15 laps took about 14 min, it is good exercise, I get a bit winded. Somewhere I read that you should do at least 20 min of this kind of exercise, so I guess I need to get up to 20 or 22 laps. For reasons of safety on the lose gravel I don't want to speed up.

Emily, I have thought about the modern day version of a Chief Ollam, and your comparison to Rupert Murdoch probably makes sense. As LaMa says our President would probably be happy if he could just payoff Saturday Night Live and what he calls our Fake News folks. You should look into it Chief Ollam is probably open right now.

It was a good day, I ate well and feel good.

When I added up my calories tonight I was surprised how low they were, I did not feel hungry today. I know this is too low for the long term, will try to eat a little more tomorrow.

In 865 Ivar the Boneless and his brother Halfdan Ragnarsson lead a Viking army invading East Anglia. Or maybe they did, not a lot of direct evidence. The meaning of Ivar's name isn't clear, while it is most often translated as "the Boneless" could mean "the Legless" or just refer to his impotence. No matter Ivar seems to have overcome whatever his handicap was pretty well.

Lol Rob the lower calories gives us more history but yes you need to also eat to lose weight which I believe is true . But good you are not hungry . I’m always looking forward to my next meal !!!

"The Boneless" today would be a nickname for a contortionist. Or maybe he was able to squeeze through the narrowest of openings to get into locked strongholds? Or... maybe he had bad teeth and needed his food cut/chewed for him instead of gnawing large chunks of meat directly ffrom the bone? Or he was so overweight you couldn´t see any bones on him. So many possibilities! If it was a nickname given to him by his tribesmen/underlings I wouldn´t expect it to mean he was impotent.

259 down 4, and 61 lbs to date. I am happy!

I was surprised after slower loss the past couple of weeks, but as everyone finds out weight loss isn't a straight line, no matter how consistent the diet. I still have a long ways to go, but getting there feels good.

Very nice, Rob! You are a few pounds away from where I was went I started posting here and that was about 5 months ago. It took me over a year to just get to that point and then another 5 months to get down close to where I am now. You've accomplished so much. It's really inspiring. Take stock, take care, and keep going strong!
