How to stop the want to eat everything

Most days I do really well in maintaining the small portions and healthy snacks through the day. Then there are other days I want to eat everything in sight and don't feel satisfied (hunger) any helpful suggestions on steering away from this desire??

I think there are many others that are dealing with this same issue right here on this forum. What is your daily caloric intake like? Are there any foods or food groups that you are completely avoiding? I find that the more restrictive you try to be, the more difficult it can be to overcome cravings and binges.

I am avoiding mostly bread products. But I don't even miss the bread products. What I crave tends to be the greasy foods like McDonald's cheeseburgers or wings or pizza. I know all these I could still do healthier options and still eat them and in small portions but I feel once I get to the point of craving it I tend to over indulge.

This is the million $ question, and unfortunately there seems to be no silver bullet here. We all fight it, at least to some extent.

In my case I fight it every day, most all the time. So far I have been able to live with it by having a diet that doesn't leave me hungry much of the time and will power. Now I know will power can work for a while, but not all the time forever, or mine never has anyway. So I am trying harder to find a long term sustainable diet than to lose weight, not that I am not losing weight but for now that's a secondary goal. The other thing I do is to try and focus on what I eat today, getting through the rest of the day is easier for me.

Anyway this is just where I am, we are all different people and will have different paths to dieting, if you stick around this place you may be able to find your path. There are lots of people here with more wisdom and success than I, pay attention to them.

Maybe if you include some of these things into your diet, even when you are not craving them, you could avoid getting to the point of craving and overindulging? This works for some people and not others, but it might be worth a try?

The only thing I have found to help me with this is getting the right calorie deficit...eating few enough calories to lose weight, but enough that it doesn’t trigger (as hard) those craving/binging/starvation brain feelings/thoughts/behaviors. Some people also feel that “cheat” days or meals help them, but for me it’s demoralizing to eat my progress away.

Have recommended this calculator a lot for finding your calorie deficit and it is what is working well for me:
