Vanita - I promise you'll either learn to love exercising or you'll find something that works for you. Don't just slog through something because you're 'supposed' to do it. If you're not a gym person, don't go. Find something like hiking or biking that works for you! I'm in Atlantic Canada so we are dealing with cold/ice/snow most of this season so the gym is pretty essential. My trick? I start signing up for races that I'm excited for?

Mud run?! YES! (https://www.facebook.com/events/1199322453448746/)

Foam run?! ( http://www.the5kfoamfest.com/locations/ca/moncton/) Bring it on!

I'm not a gym person by any means - I'd rather run trails and sidewalks but it keeps me going until spring when I can get outside more. The soreness gets better/easier. Do LOTS of stretching after - like do not forgo a good cool-down. I ignored that for the longest time and it impacts the next workout you do - muscles are tighter, body hurts, you're not as 'in the zone'. Stretching and a good cool-down are so crucial. I also love KT Tape. If a part of you gets more sore than usual (overworked/strained/just uncomfortable), I use KT Tape and follow the directions. It's a stretchy tape designed to keep your muscles/joints/everything in place (I've used it while knitting to avoid carpal tunnel lol).

You WILL get there!

Rebel - Keep up the awesome work! Post often - it really does cement this habit of getting on here and saying 'hi - here's how things are going'. You're doing awesome - keep it up! Anytime you need motivation, support, ideas, whatever - that's what we're here for. I have used this group so many times to avoid binging on something lol! You can't type and eat at the same time (and usually after a post, I feel mentally better so I'm more inclined to avoid the kitchen).

LaMaria - THANK YOU! I feel like an entirely different person already. I'm definitely healthier, feeling so much more alive and enjoying life compared to sitting on the sidelines. If I ended up staying this weight but kept getting more active and having more endurance, I would learn to embrace it and just say "okay" because I feel good. I'm not thrilled with my 'weight' - that stupid number on a scale but it's less of a priority compared to being able to run in these races. I seriously think that was the most positive thing I could do for my body - set a goal outside of weight loss and work towards THAT. It's much more freeing. I can't force the scale to go down - but I can force myself to go to the gym, eat better, exercise more etc.

Well, off to parent the two little mini-mes! Have a great day everyone!

Quick fact I've noticed: without a water bottle (20oz), I drink 0 water. It's maybe 8-16oz/day so not even close to enough. I stole my hubby's water bottle today (mine is sitting in my mom's freezer in a different town - oops) and have already downed 40oz today and it's not even 1:30pm yet.

I'm not sure why this is but definitely picking up another water bottle tonight when I go grocery shopping.

I have a 26 oz water bottle at my desk at work, with a straw, and find that combo really drives up how much water I drink. No idea what the straw brings to the table, but there you go.

I have a 2 litre water bottle that i fill in the morning and make sure i drink it by the time I've finished work so i know that for at least 5 days a week i have done good. While i was off over Christmas i drank zero water......just coffee and alcohol lol

I love seeing how you are getting more & more supportive & positive as you go Sam. You are going great! I agree about the water bottle. I've been a bit slack lately & am not drinking enough water. It's Summer here too :( Thanks for the reminder!

Totally agree with the water bottle - something about having a water bottle sitting there I drink so much more than filling up a glass and drinking out of it! Speaking of this...let me go drink some !! ;)

Sunflower, I always use those pee breaks as just a break!! My kids want to come in but no, this is mommy time.

Does anyone with a fitbit want to add me? I need some challenges to do lol!

Awesome sam! And the bottle thing is true... in my case I hate straws but my bottle is actually a shaker with a big hole for the water to come out. If I don't fill it up and have it with me... I won't drink water at all. I used to drink 3 litters a day... now i can hardly drink one -.-

Hey everyone! Quick update as I need to go play with my kids.

I am meal prepped until Tuesday (First time ever and I did it)!!! I also have my meals planned for next week and am prepping Tuesday. Whee.

I have 2 more days until my diet bet starts - so excited and I'm NOT losing my money! (Check out Dietbet.com)

Also, my sister and I started a little bet. Starting tomorrow, whoever runs to 250 miles first gets treated to dinner by the loser (that would be her) after our mud run in September. I will win.

Finally, I BROKE through my plateau! Down to 224.2lbs today! I've lost over 25lbs now - not about 25lbs but over!

Time to go drink some water and play with kids though!

Bye!

I sent you an email through fitbit (I think)...I'm so bad at this stuff!

But you should get something saying "Add me" or that I added you!

So, today I need to start jogging to 250 miles. My kids are asleep so I'm running laps in my house. I kid you not. I will NOT let my sister win this bet lol!

Ha ha Sam. I do laps of our Snooker table! I'll never keep up with you & Sunflower!

Haha Cate! I'm working on out-lapping Sunflower. I have another gym session planning tomorrow and RAN 4 miles tonight! I definitely succeeded in my couch to 5k plan lol (that's over 6km). I am doing my 2 diet bets - so there's almost 200$ on the line...I'll tell you what, my chunky legs can MOVE IT when there's that much money to be lost!

It was a GREAT way to begin the week and start off re-motivated and I feel awesome. My husband is actually out getting me a steak and cheese melt from Subway to get my calories a bit higher. I'm sitting at 1200 right now and planning to get to 1600 before the night is out.

1500 is now my bare minimum. My body is burning calories, I'm running like a mad woman right now (I WILL BEAT MY SISTER to 250 miles) and I need the energy otherwise, I'm going to crash and owe her a dinner.

To go from 251 to today, sitting at 224, I feel like I'm just back to 'me' again. I had to take a hard look at why I wasn't doing so well before and I was really unhappy with how I looked so I hid behind the kids. I'm a great mom but I needed to learn that just being a great mom wasn't enough for me. I needed to be a great human - and that involves getting my body back in shape too.

It's not 'for' anyone this time. It started as being embarrassed about how I looked when when wedding is coming up but now, I'm just really proud. I'm proud of myself for having 2 kids and being about 10lbs off from prebaby weight. I'm proud that I did these diet bets! I have a HUGE fear of failure and will quit something if I 'think' I'm going to fail and you know what, that's not okay! It's not okay to be ruled by your fear of failure. It's not okay to make excuses and not even try because I'm scared. So me betting on myself isn't a 'bet' - it's encouragment, it's motivation, but it's also me saying "Hey Sam, you're awesome and I'm willing to take my money and put it on this because I'm going to succeed."

Why thank you, me. I like you too.

ANYWAYS, have a great evening everyone :D BTW, recent update pic - I know, I know - just did one but hey, why not? This is JUST after the gym and franky, standing hurt. Everything hurt lol! I couldn't even be bothered to stand up straight but I needed to do the weigh-in for DietBet.com.Hubby said I looked like I wanted to die...well, maybe not that extreme but definitely in pain. Much better today though! View attachment 24229

I do the same exact thing, HAHAHA. If I take a water bottle to work with me I drink a good 96 oz or so throughout the day. However, if I don't take a water bottle I miiiiight drink like 16 oz of water. It's such a weird variable.
