So first thing is my introduction!
I'm going to keep this updated, I suppose it's all about time management. (Which I am awful at honestly)

I'm going to share videos pertaining to exercise, dieting maybe even stuff involving makeup.

I intend on sharing food diary on here as well, that way I can get tips and everything from you guys. Apart of that I will share what workouts I'm doing for the day? Maybe even somewhere down the line I'll start up a vlog or something, I'm not sure. It's all about baby steps. :coolgleamA:

Hello, My name is Asia. I am 22 years old, currently jobless. The last time I got weighed I was 380lbs, I fear I am well over 400 now. I guess I have finally hit that point in my life that this journey isn't about vanity, that it is for a future. I guess the reality really hit me when I saw my eye doctor and she commented about how I have few cataracts in my eyes, she was kind and didn't want to say it was from my weight, that it wasn't the possibility diabetes was right around the corner.... It really opened my eyes that I am not as invincible as I feel, that if I don't change, I will die a early death. That is something I don't want.

I suppose I should give a bit of information about me as a person, my upbringing. How I got here. My mother was well over 400lbs raising me. She was a hair dresser, working well over 50 hours a weak to support us. Needless to say my father was never in the picture. In my mothers struggle she wasn't around herself, she did everything she could, but getting fast food was a easy alternative to feed us, and from then on it's always been an uphill battle. One where I'd feel motivated, but for all the wrong reasons. Just wanting to be beautiful, to be something people chased after, now that I matured I realize how silly that is. Now I want to be able to run. I want to walk up a steep hill. I want to see life as beautiful and honestly I have no idea where to start. The reminder of the haunting things people used to say to me, what people used to called me continues to follow me to this day. To the point I am afraid of leaving my house because I constantly feel like I am being stared at and judged. I feel like everyone in the open world is calling me those names in their head. Because of that I stay inside and sit on the computer for the majority of my day to day life. Its not shocking I've gained so much, I never did anything to stop it.

Tonight I spent my time looking at tips for becoming healthy and it lead me on a journey of seeing others who have made this journey without surgery. My mother herself got weightloss surgery, I want to do it naturally because I feel with my hard work and dedication it is something I can achieve if I try my hardest.

In the Midst of watching these videos I found a quote that honestly really made me think.
"You can be sore tomorrow or you can be sorry tomorrow. It's your choice." and to me it is something that really sticks out.

My initial plan I have decided for myself since I began to do research is this.

Decrease portions by 20%
Increase Water intake to over 100%
Begin weight squats and taking walks every morning.

I found a video labeled as Fatmans 10 Steps for Weightloss and honestly it was one of the things I saw possible for myself. I will list steps below and the small notes I made for myself on them.
1. ) Eat Clean. [ This doesn't just mean physically. Surround yourself with positive images, videos. Things that remind you why you are on this journey, what you can achieve.]

2.) Sleep well. [You confuse your hormones when you sleep to much or to little.]

3.) Manage Stress [Make a list of what stresses you out and label it from the most stressful to the least and start at the hardest point and work your way down.]

4.) Think health and well being when it comes to weightloss. [Think about where you will be 20 years from now.]

5.) Listen to your Body.

6.) Make Life style changes. [Train yourself to enjoy loosing weight and do it as much as you physically can.]

7.) Drink more, Eat Less. [Body will think its hungry when it is actually dehydrated. Since someone is heavier isn't sure what their body needs, doing this will be nothing but beneficiary. Invest in a blender.]

8.) Collect Data [ Calories. Exercise times. Get a good Scale which can weight water weight, muscle wright, and body fat. Make a food diary and begin taking pictures of your progress. Make goals for yourself but make sure they aren't outlandish. Understand this will take time. The weight gain didn't happen over night, neither will the weightloss.]

9.) Don't try to buy Weightloss.

10.) Exercise [Do it early in the morning or when you wake up so you are moving for the rest of the day instead of sleeping right after. Do a lot of thigh workouts.]

These are the 10 principles I'm going to try and adopt. I realize it is a lifestyle change and not a temporary fix now. Below I will post a few ways to start a healthy lifestyle.
1.) Changed your Mind. [Motivation]

2.) Set Realistic Goals [Start small]

3.) Make Healthier choices

4.) Start Moving

5.) Get a good support system.

Weightloss is 80% the diet, 20% the workout. [Walk as fast paced as your knees can handle, you will loose/maintain your weight.

So these are just a few things that have inspired me to move forwards, and I know its a lot but I'm hoping this might help others. If some information isn't right, I would love to hear your input. I think I will be starting a diary tomorrow and work on it daily and see where it takes me. Thank you all for reading this.

Hey Asia, glad you've come over to the diary part of the forum! Welcome :) What sort of food will you be eating?

Well, I'm thinking of eating more eggs and veggies and maybe seafood. I'd like to cut out wheat and dairy from my diet completely.

Hi Asia and welcome! Veggies and seafood are awesome but if you don't have real allergies and intolerances it might be better to not restrict the kinds of food you eat too much yet. Limiting or eliminating refined sugar and soda is another matter of course, neither has anything to do with food. I do have question about point 7 of your list: why do you need a blender to drink more? I'm pretty sure the research you read about meant drink more water. Smoothies are awesome but they can have a lot of calories and liquids tend to not keep your stomach full as long as the same food chewed and eaten.
Anyway: I'm glad you're with us and I wish you all the best on your journey!

Hi Hxze, & welcome to the diary section of WLF. It sounds like you are determined to lose weight & get healthy & have lots of strategies to implement your plan. Planning is key & shopping so that you always have healthy options at home. All the best with this. Cheers, Cate.

Hello LaMaria! Thanks for the reply :)

My plan now is doing the Paleo diet. Originally I just planned to cut back, but now I want a healthier alternative. I don't want sugar in my diet unless it comes naturally. I thought of easing myself into it, but I figured starting soon as possible was the best option for me. I'm taking slower approach to get into it. I'm cutting dairy out now and restricting my bread intake to only having a piece of wheat toast when I eat poached eggs. I feel soon enough I'll be able to cut wheat out as well. It's been hard even though its day one, but I managed to not drink the 44 gram of sugar snapple on my desk, so I think I'm doing pretty well! My mother also made cookies, that I wanted so bad but I settled for an orange as well.

As for the blender, my idea is if I stick to this diet I'll still have cravings for sweets. I love icecream so I'm thinking I can substitute it with a strawberry and ice smoothie. Maybe even change it up from time to time with whatever fruit I have. It'll come in handy if I start taking vitamin shakes too (which is something my mom talked to me about if I stay dedicated enough) as well as making veggie blends. (Did you know there is a paleo shamrock shake recipe? I'm dying to try it even though it's not the same as Mc Donalds.)

Even now I've been drinking so much water. It's all I've had other then black coffee.

Hi Cate! Thanks so much for the response.

With the plan on pursuing the paleo diet, I feel I have an idea of simple things to make that will keep me full. Tomorrow I'm actually planning on shopping at Aldi's cause I've heard they had an organic line now. I hope it's true!

The biggest obstacle is not giving up and staying determined. I know this holiday season is going to be rough but if I make it through, I think I'll be on my way to achieving great things! :)

So this is what I've consumed for the day.

Breakfast-
3 poached eggs, A glass of black coffee (i didn't enjoy it much, but ill get used to it haha), 1 piece of wheat toast (no butter just plain)Tw

Lunch-
3 poached eggs, Half glass of black coffee, a bottle of water and 1 piece of wheat toast. (Boring start of the day, isn't it? I only have a limited supply of food for now)

Dinner-
Two Turkey burger patties (No bun, no condiments), 1 egg (scrambled) and a 2/3's cup of green beans. (Honestly i feel like this was the healthiest meal I had in a while and I felt pretty good after.)

Dessert/Snack-
Half an Orange

So, funny enough my stepdad had planned on buying us taco bell for dinner. It's a habit where we eat fast food at least 3 times a week, and for once eI finally told my mom I didn't want anything from there, that I was going to make dinner for myself because I'm serious about this life change. I feel proud of myself for not giving into temptation the numerous times it was presented to me. As long as I keep this up, I'll be doing very well in the long run. Tonight before bed I'm going to do a few work out things (I know it's better when you first wake up, but my sleeping schedule is wack right now and I need to fix it. I feel right now I should workout when I have the chance.)

Thanks all for reading! :)

Good job resisting temptation! It's hard to stick to your guns when you live in a household which celebrates unhealthy choices. A paleo-friendly way to add extra taste and nutrients would be to have a planter full of herbs on your window sill :)

Welcome to the forum, Asia.

First of all, I think it's totally cool you feel that way. I feel that there is a time and a place for weight loss surgery but I also feel that many people who get it are just pure lazy and are hoping for a quick fix. I also feel like many people who get weight loss surgery obtain an undeserved sense of accomplishment. Like, they walk around expecting everyone to rave over how great they look and how much weight they've lost. But, what did they really do - what work did they put in to earn that?

So, I'm right there with you. I'd rather lose weight the right way and put in the work all on my own. Good for you.

In the Midst of watching these videos I found a quote that honestly really made me think.
"You can be sore tomorrow or you can be sorry tomorrow. It's your choice." and to me it is something that really sticks out.

Second of all, that's one of my favorites too. It sends a good message - either put in the work and be tired tomorrow or be lazy and feel guilty tomorrow.

One of the quotes I try to live by right now is "Don't stop until you are proud." I find that to be quite motivating as well. It just reminds me to push myself and not only put in the bare minimum just for the sake of saying "I did SOMETHING!!!"

I agree completely. It's a struggle but I know in the end it will be worth it. The paleo diet just seems like the healthiest alternative for me. I know if temptations exist, I will bend until I break. If I take those temptations away and treat them like the plague, I know I wont touch them. Right now, I consider sugar a chemical, a deadly one at that, and I want to stay away from anything chemical.

Even though it's been two days I feel so much better.

Hello! Thanks for the response!

The most frustrating thing for me was that my mother did get the surgery, but nothing changed for me. She didn't try to steer me in the right direction at all, but even now after all the work she put in, she's eating a lot of bad food. I feel bad saying this, but in a way shes an example of what I don't want to do.

I feel putting in the effort yourself is a.lot harder, but when someone reaches their end goal it's so much more worth it cause you know you have no one else to thank for it. That you changed even with everything thrown in your way, everything that caused it. I think that's something that is so powerful and fulfilling. It throws you into such a better mind state as well.

That's a great quote as well, I like it! Another one for me was from Rocky Horror, which is when Dr. Frankenfurter (Tim Curry) sings 'Don't dream it- be it' It's such a simple statement, but I feel like it really applies for me at this point in my life. If I want to reach my end goal, I must do what it takes to get there.

I love both those quotes. I'm going to write them out and post them where I'll seem them.

Hello! Thanks for the reply, and I totally agree. Whatever motivation you need, surround yourself with it. It's such a powerful thing to remind yourself why you are working to loose weight, to get healthy. Another good one is "Don't dream it, Be it."

Here's my food diary for today!

Breakfast-
2 Turkey Patties
2/3 cup of green beans

Now i didn't get to have lunch, I had to go shopping for dinner, which I had decent amount of. :p

Dinner-
Salmon Fillet with a lime, cilantro, garlic rub.
Cauliflower Mashed Potatoes. ( This was something I discovered when looking for a substitute for mashed potatoes because I love them so much. Honestly, I never expected it to be so good, but it was absolutely amazing, the best part about it was knowing how good it is for me. I used almond milk as well as parsley and less then a tablespoon of butter as well as some salt and pepper to season it. It was amazing I totally recommend trying it if you want a healthy alternative to mashed potatoes.)

Today I have stuck to drinking water only, no coffee. Amazingly, when I woke up this morning I felt great, and even now I still do. I'm not lethargic like I normally am. I can't imagine how things will be when a month has passed. I should also mention I only spent $25 on the ingredients to make this meal, and I didn't use everything so there is plenty to last me!

Sooo expensive! Do you think $25 is cheap?! My meals average a couple of £ each normally.. Sounds delicious though!

My wife and I had a short period where we tried to eat more of a gluten-free, low-carb diet (it didn't last, but we TRIED HAHAHA) and one of the things we made was cauliflower mashed potatoes. I thought they were pretty good, actually. Yeah, they're a little different than the usual mashed potatoes (obviously) but I genuinely liked them. And, the best part? Our son had NO idea he was eating cauliflower and maaaaauled his plate of food, HAHAHA.
