hi, I need your guys tips here.
I'm new to this forum and my diet. I've been doing the slender blend protein shakes, replacing 2 of my meals with shakes every day and having 1 meal, usually with a snack of a banana or a low fat yogurt at night. However, my problem is this only adds up to about 800 calories, yet I still feel full!!

I was reading online and it said anything under 1000 and I won't be burning fat anymore. I also swim a lot and walk a lot in my job.

The problem is I'm a vegetarian and there's not much I can eat, what would you suggest as a food to up my calorie intake just that little bit more?

Hey Luce,

If you were just dieting, I'd recommend that you stick with your current diet, schedule a refeed day, and see what happens, but because you are active:
I also swim a lot and walk a lot in my job.
You NEED to up your caloric intake.

What's your BMR? You can google it if you know your height and weight: https://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/basal-metabolic-rate.

Here are a couple things I'd invite you to try:
  1. Switch to full fat yogurt. Fat is good for you, it will taste a lot better and there will be less sugar in a full fat product.
  2. Make your shake with yogurt. Kefir or homemade yogurts are liquid-y and easy to drink, plus they are packed with probiotics.
  3. Eat plenty of peas and other legumes (soak them before cooking)
  4. Eat calorically dense plant foods. Nuts are notorious for being calorie packed. Eat lots of them!
Hope that helps :)

My BMR is 1600, the past few days I've managed to get 1000 by having snacks more often like a piece of fruit or a yogurt, and having my smoothies with semi skimmed milk not almond milk, but thanks for your tips I'll deffinitely take them onboard!!

I was involved in weight lifting and a bit of just-for-fun muscle gaining, so I know quite a lot about how to add in more and more calories!

Glad I can help!

PS: It's definitely easier to drink calories. So adding coconut oil, olive oil, or grassfed butter to your shakes will up your calories very quickly.
