Do you think 50-60 pushups is good?

I weigh about 100 pounds, 14 years old, 5'3 and can do about 63 pushups, is that a reasonable amount?

I've never seen anyone do more pushups than me in perfect form :p
(And I try to find these vids on youtube every day!)

You want to keep your back perfectly straight, and come down until some part of your body touches the ground - but don't put any weight on the ground to rest.

I'd say 50-60 is bloody good (I have never done over 30 in perfect form), however doing so many pushups is pretty pointless, and doesn't equate to strength - that is, you wouldn't necessarily bench more than someone who can only do 10 pushups.

Lately, I've been doing sets of 10 pushups, with 1 min rests. See how many sets of 10 you can do with a minute rest :D
It's very fun to compete with people doing this.
I'm not sure there is much point to this either...but like I said - it's damn good fun! Though I don't do it atm, because I have a BP competition in just a month, and all my efforts are going into power :D

stairmaster,

we had a guy on here some, Auzzie dude!, that challenged us to a one minute pushup.

a full minute for the up and down. I layed my watch there and tried to give it 20 seconds on the way down, 20 seconds on the bottom and then 20 seconds on the way up.

He said it was impossible!!

Since you said you are the pushup king, I thought I'd share the exercise with ya. My core started shaking pretty good about half way thru the second one!

Not a challenge, I'm spent right now, just enjoy the pushup!

p.s. I believe Chillen can do some 60 or so within a minute and is willing to match you with video!

heheheeh
stir it up baby!

but remember, Chillen is just a l;il skinny old man of a mere 155 lbs. and you are an 18 year old young stud at 183. probably kill the guy to compete with you, so take it easy.

ahahahahahaha

I really do enjoy ME!

Seriously man, if you really do only weigh 100 lbs then you need to start eating properly, being that skinny isn't good for your health.

As for the number of push-ups, if it's done with proper form then that's great, I can't even do 40 in one go. However, you're not going to gain much strength from an exercise that doesn't challenge you that much

That's a BMI of about 17 so I'd say that was very unhealthy

I had a BMI of exactly 17 for a long while before I started weights, I would dispute that it's unhealthy, as it's not necessarily is. I was quite healthy.

Is there a video of that?

Or does anyone else have any videos of anyone doing 50+ pushups in proper form?

I'd really like to see the technique(s) they use

the US Military judges how many push-ups you can do with in 2 minutes, at my peak I was in the 80-90 range. some 15 years ago ;)

But at 14 you are just starting your growth stage, you may see dramatic changes in your body and you may eat your parents out of the house.

Try to eat healthy as much as possible, the rules that apply for me (37 year old) don't apply for a 14 year old growing....you need fuel to burn.

But try an all around exercise routine, does your school have a weight gym that you can utilize during free time?

But what you are doing is fine. Keep your head up and looking straight while doing your push up, form is the key here. As with almost every exercise.

best of luck

Only if they're one arm pushups!

What type of dumb answer is that? Are you trying to be funny?

63 press ups without rest is fantastic, show me someone who claims to do more than that and 9 times out of 10 I'll show you someone who humps the floor while bearly bending their arms
