Is losing 8 pounds in a month too high of a goal??

August is my cutting month, and I'd like to lose about 8 pounds (mostly because it's before school).

Is that too high of a number? It's average 2 pounds a week, so I wouldn't think it would be very hard.

I need about 2700 calories to maintain (using mreik's formula), so I thought I would knock that down to around 2000-2300 a day.

1-2 pounds per week is considered to be a healthy rate of weight loss, so I think it is not only a reasonable rate but a healthful one as well.

Oh good, thanks for the self-esteem boost (seriously!) I'm glad I know a healthy choice lol

what is your weight and height exactly because if you have that weight to lose then it should be easy but if your fit or skinny thats pretty hard to achieve

whats your height, age, weight so we can see if its healthy or not because you never know lol you could be 5 foot or 7 foot, age to is major factor like teenager to 40-50+

according to your estimation your BMR is 18,900 weekly You are shooting for this weekly (calculated based on 2,300number you gave) 16100. Thats a total difference of 2,800 calories. Now this is a somewhat "safe" deficient although will you be increasing calorie expenditure through physical exercise to further increase the weekly deficient or is that all estimated in as total including any physical activity's?

I'm 15 years old, and 168 pounds, 5'10''

I based my calculations on high activity, as my workout will include:

Mon, Wed, Fri: Heavy weights training
Tues, Thurs: HIIT

Saturday and Sundays are off.

I will be eating my 1st meal as soon as I get up, and will be working out 1 hour after my 1st meal, that way my metabolism is started as soon as possible for the whole day.

My meals for August will mostly be comprised of skim milk, chicken breast, and whey protein :)
I said MOSTLY, not all lol

Makes you wonder about the people on the Biggest Loser show, I've seen those guys drop like 24 lb in a week LOL.

I have thought the same thing. On the show, the trainers say that they put them on diets between 1200 to 1500 calories a day, and all they have to do all day long is work out, so they are creating massive deficits.

they probably do like 10lbs in a week, by completely depriving their bodies of everything necessary to sustain all weight (whether it be muscle mass or fat) along with the massive use of saunas before the scale time
