I did alot of situps

Hello,

Maybe somebody will know about my problem. Well yesterday I was doing situps for a full hour from 6:50pm to 7:50pm roughly. I did 1000 situps during this time. This is the 3rd time i've done this. It doesn't hurt my back at all, my only problem is my energy gets low and/or I feel so moody. I felt so easily angered, and depressed about things in my life. I am usually not like this, also i felt like throwing up after I ate dinner that night (sushi), my abs were pressing on my stomach or something... I guess. Does anyone know about these symptoms? Please no flaming. Thank you

can i ask why you are doing all those situps?? if you are trying to lose fat around your belly area, you should probably be doing some cardio and weight lifting

It means you did something stupid :) Why would you do that many situps? Heard of overtraining? Don't do it again unless you want to be sick again. You're hurting yourself A LOT more than you are helping yourself by overtraining.

I am going for ripped abs.... I do do aerobic exercise.
I usually train til i'm sore, however with
situps i don't get sore. I just get sweaty instead, I thought theres a hormone released when u do situps? since i was so moody, and my energy is low, anybody an expert? I did it 1 time, and then another a week later, then this last time was 3 days later. I dunno... guess i'll cut back and drink more water and take vitamins or something....

Doing that many sit-ups wont get you ripped. The diet is the most responsible element for the "ripped appearance".

In addition, doing than many situps, is not a wise Idea. If you have high endurance, I suggest doing (if want to do situps), reps under 25 (25 cap limit), with added weight on a progressive scale system but only do half-ups (disengages or doesnt involve the hip flexors--as much (approximate), and get a flat bench, that declines, and do the same--this is AFTER you already refined and tuned your diet, and educated yourself on your minimun and total caloric requirements for each day. In additon, I believe you need to have a total weight training progression system in place as well.

What is your diet like? How much do you eat in the caloric sense (could this be your energy problem area?). What sorts of food do you eat, when do you eat it. If your low on energy, look at this first. Feed enough information so the other can help you more.

I agree situps, are not the best for the average, but they worked wonders for me once the diet did its work with fat. And, if one looks carefully at their own torso when doing the movement (half-up), the abs do get worked (albeit stablizing front).

Crunches are better, but like situps, the abs will adjust FAST, and over time, tradional crunches with 1 sec or more hold: the reps get higher and higher, and resistance needs to be added to aid in keeping the reps lower (its not really productive to do 100 crunches, I believe in 25 or less.

I remember when I thought my torso was in pretty good condition (with doing weighted crunches, weighted leg raises, etc), until one day I got the "Bright" Idea to do weighted side bends, 3s, with dumbell. My obliques were so sore, I could barely sit for a week. (LOL).

Alot of persons have gotten their ripped appearance (diet in order) from not doing a single AB exercise, others very little, and other yet just doing weight training that indirectly effects the abs. Each has its own genetic playing field though. Just food for thought.

Try pilates instead.

1000 is way too much for anyone. If you find it easy to do 1000 without pain, then it means you need to do something else.

As far as getting angry, I heard toxic chemicals are released with extensive damage to your muscle (like if something heavy dropped on you). I'm not sure, and I hope someone corrects me, but it could be that you did so many situps and overworked yourself (even though you feel good) that you damaged your muscles and it's releasing some type of chemical to repair itself.

Instead of spending an hour doing situps, try a full body strength training routine instead. That will take you closer to your goal than all those situps ever will. Also, as noted, diet has to be spot on in order to see the abs in the first place.

you are right, my diet is so non-standard maybe that is so. I don't know how many calories I get a day. One time I had gotten myself to 175 lbs (running and diet alone), I am 6'4, and still I had no ripped abs that is why I am trying ab exercises. I weigh about 215 now. I did not like being so skinny, I looked skinny and weak. Even tho the situps messed me up, I sure felt better yesterday, like things felt way tighter on my torso. But I guess my nutrition is bad, I will try some sugestions made to me instead of so many situps... thank you

and Also I was thinking of some chemicals effecting my hormones like Dallen said, I did not know if that was correct or not....

You can cut down fat to your desired weight with a mix of strength training (to retain the muscle you have while adding strength), cardio (for endurance) and a calorie deficit. Once you're at your desired body fat percentage/weight, add in more healthy food to create a calorie surplus to build muscle, while adjusting your strength and cardio training accordingly.
