Fail much?

So I lift heavy, around 80-90 percent of my max. I do bench press, lat pull downs and military press this way. I follow a 5x5 set/rep scheme but it seems that by the time I get on my third rep, it's a struggle and i mostly grind it out to finish the 5 x 5. should i lower the weights down a bit? or keep it as it is. I am cutting right now.

This is going to be difficult when cutting. When cutting your goal should be to maintain your strength. Keep lifting heavy as you are then. Progression is going to be very slow though.

You should never sacrifice your form for weight. If it's a struggle by 3, you're using too much. Form breakdown indicates muscle failure. Extra reps only makes that worse (and by some studies, counter-productive).

I agree especially for exercises like the Squat and deadlift which could hurt your back and knees in the long run if you don't do them right.

What do you mean by progression is going to be very slow?

your progress. While cutting, strenght gains dont come as fast as when bulking.
