Gained weight?

I was at 222 pounds last year and I went on a serious diet which i lost about 22 pounds. It consisted of running 6 blocks everyday, drinking a multifruit shake every dinner, making a sandwich for dinner, salad for lunch, eating small fruit snacks, eating sandwiches for lunch, and eating whatever is on the school menu in the morning. I did that diet for about 4 months until i lost my motivation and returned back to my old habits. I recently stepped on a scale again and im................. 225 pounds now. I know i ate bad stuff but i dont eat like 7 burgers in a day. So I have not the slightest idea how I gained back so much weight. I do weightlift but i really doubt i gained 25 pounds of muscle since i work out to be cut and not muscular. According to my friends they tell me im thinner but i dont really notice a difference in my body only on the scale. So can anyone offer a explanation?

1. 6 city blocks is a half mile - that's not enough exercise to count as cardio

2. sounds like you starved the weight off, which means you lost fat and muscle. when you lose muscle, its easier to regain fat.

so...post your DETAILED daily diet with portion sizes, and macro breakdown if you know it. also post your weight training routine and what you're doing for cardio.

Sorry for the late reply but here goes...

Dunno what macro means

Morning : Eat school breakfeast which consist of mixture of eggs and sausage, 2 pieces of wheat bread, and a sausage link.

Brunch (Nutrition): I always ate a bagel which may be about average size. Used little cream cheese.

Lunch : A turket sandwich containting 2 slices of turkey, 1 cheese, wheaat bread, and 2 lettuce leaves.

When I get home -

I boil chicken and start up a salad. Removed the skin and the salad contained packaged salad with cut up tomatoes.

At dinner (somewhere in 7:00-9:00) : I made a sandwich consisted of boiled chicken meat or sliced turkey, 2 wheat bread, some packaged salad, tomato slices, and a multifruit shake consisted of strawberries, apples, bananas, pineapple, mango, oranges, and tangerine.

Oh yeah my workout...

I do about 2x 10 reps of benchpresses which have 45s on each side, 20 leg presses with two 45s on each side, and other exercises which i dont know what they're called. >_>

Are you doing any cardio? You want to do that for at least 20 minutes.

Macro is short for macronutrient, which refers to protein, carb, and fat. You need them all in certain amounts every day.

First thing that jumped out at me was the amount of bread you are eating. There's bread at almost every meal, and that's unnecessary and won't help to lose fat. I don't think I'd eat that much bread even if I was going on an insane bulk. There are much much better sources of carbs. Oats for one, and it wouldn't be a bad idea to get even more veggies in there. Also, sausage is probably one of the worst meats you can eat, loaded with sat. fats. I realize it is difficult to eat right being in school, but if you want it bad enough, you can make it happen.

You have a lot to learn, start by checking out all the "stickies" at the tops of these forums, great help to be had there. Check out too, as it can help you keep track of what you are eating and will break down all the macronutrients for you.

Don't they have milk at the school lunch? If they have lowfat or skim, what a great way to get some protein. Def skip the sausages. What's with the packaged salads anyways? They are prob a lot more expensive than making your own, but i'm just picky that way. Do a search for Full Body Workouts too. 2 sets of 10 on anything isn't worth doing.

School is ruining your diet, either drop out or pack a better meals :) . Don't trust anything they have there, it's all garbage. Those pre-made salads are ok, depending on what they use to preserve them (the ones used to get they use ascorbic acid)

You have way to much bread, chill on that. If not cut it completely.

I disagree, when I first joined the weightroom as a twig and did 2x reps of everything I worked out on I gradually got stronger to what I am today. I'm doing 3x reps now though.

A beginner will most likely see results on almost any program for a while. That doesn't make it an ideal program to stick with.

2 sets of 10 reps is probably fine when you start out, but you definitely need to step that up.

Well, I disagree, when I was bulking up after I lost alot of fat, my trainer told me to do 3 reps of 8 at 80-85% then gradually work up to 3 reps of 12 at 80-85%
