New and Need Advice

New: My Intro and Need for Advice on Gaining Weight

Well first a little about myself I guess. My name is Dwain, 20 years old. Currently a student at the University of Georgia double-majoring in Mathematics and Math Education. I basically joined this forum, after finding it on google, because I'm a little fed up with my body weight. I am 6'3 and only weight 130 lbs. Cardio-wise I think I am somewhat in shape, used to run Cross-Country and still play soccer 2-3 times a week. I need advice on how to gain muscle weight I guess, hopefully as naturally as possible. I would like to weigh at least 180, but I don't even know if thats possible for my body type. Just any advice on exercise routines, nutrition and dieting habits, that sorta thing. I am pretty much lost. My body make up may be to the point where I can't gain too much weight but being as tall as I am and not weighing much has always bothered me to an extent. If anyone needs any more info from me to get a better idea of what I need, just ask. Thanks for the help in advance.

*Edit. Added picture for idea of what I look like. I'm on far right, 3 years ago but I don't look any different. Maybe have gained 5-10 pounds since then.

welcome to the forum.
all the information you need is in these forums. Just take a look around and do some research into weight training and diet.

Good luck.

I'm not expert, but I can definitely give you some insight through my experience. I was in the same position as far as weight goes when I was in high school.
So I started weight training program and bulked up. Now that I'm 33, I wish I never did that. Weight lifters and body builders will deny this until their blue in the face, but almost every single one of them usually become fat or at least have huge guts when they get to an age where their metabolism slows down and they have to spend most of their time dealing with their responsibilities like working, paying bills, and taking care of their families. Instead of lifting weights, I should of done more of things like swimming, gymnastics, yoga, martial arts, ice hockey and soccer. People who have made these type of activities/sports part of their lifestyle are the ones that stay fit, healthy, and trim typically up through old age. These sports work your heart and muscles more intrinsically and give you added flexiblity without putting pressure on your joints.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just make sure you keep active, eat healthy, and keep an eye on things such as potential
heart disease and cholesterol.
