bf??

ok i just used a calculator to check my body fat percentage.... so my question is... what is an ideal body fat percentage for a 5ft tall girl??

Women have a naturally higher percentage of body fat. I think the range is 15-18%. It's independant of height.

ok thank you... i just guessed at some of the messurements when i did mine... it was 31%.... so reckon i need to do a bit of work..lol

Those numbers are kindof off since what she asked for was an "ideal" bf percentage. 15% is like a female athlete. Lean for a female is more like 17-22% with anywhere under 25% being healthy.

Really? I know 12% is good for a man, and he doesn't have to be athletic, so I simply added a few more points.

Really. To put it in perspective a female bodybuilder or fitness model get down to 9-12%

Edit: I'm trying to look it up online but am having trouble finding numbers. I at least think that BBs and FMs get down to 9% but I could be wrong.

According to the American Council on Exercise:

Essential Fat = 10 to 12%
Athletes = 14 to 20%
Fitness = 21 to 24%
Acceptable = 25 to 31%
Obese = 32%+

Body fat measurements are very black box. The only way to be entirely sure is to do cadaver testing and im sure knowing your percentage doesnt mean that much to you. Get a set of calipers and go by the caliper readings going down eg a supraspinale measure going down by 2 mm or something like that.

Most good anthropometrists wont tell their athletes what their percentage is because they know that it isnt a good indication of result.

Heres an interesting fact there are over 200 equations for measuring bodyfat and the most accurate was developed way back in the 1970's.

Im not putting a downer on bf percentages I and other people just prefer to measure in different ways.

well see i cant afford to go buy anything so i have to go with what i have here at the house.. heres what i am tring to do... i have posted this in another place but will post it here as well to sorta give you a bit more info... ok i am not very big at all.. to be honest... im 5ft 2in tall.. and weigh 98lbs and from what i have found online that is underweight a bit from what im suppose to weigh, but i do have a bit of a flabby belly... which is what i want to work to get rid of. Altho i know that i cant spot reduce... but all i really want is to gain some weight and get rid of my flabby belly.. im not looking to have a 6-pack, but something that is worth showing off for. that is my goal but not sure exactly how to do that...

Word! I god a caliper, but i only use it to measure progress, IE which way its going, up or down. i dont care about the numbers.
