HELP - Chest Exercise

Hey everyone,

I've been training for about 2 years but I can't seem to get my upper chest and middle chest especially to get bigger... What are the best exercises to tone up the middle chest?

Thanks

What are you eating? Have to feed the muscle for it to grow. What has your training been before?

I've been eating a fairly high in protein diet... In terms of chest exercises, I do bench press, flys, cable extensions, etc... I just cant seem to make the middle part of the chest get any definition...

Detail of what you are eating, Detail of your entire training routine.

"Tone" or definition is about low body fat. You can do all the chest movements in the world and if not eating for your goal or training RIGHT for you goal it is useless. Do if want better advice, you have to post the detail.

There is no such thing as inner pecs.or middle chest, The pectorals fibers stretch from the arm pit to the center of the sternum. You can't work one end of the fibers without working the other.so any chest exercise will work all the chest.

the reason your inner pecs look smaller is because the fibers are bunched up at the arm-pit and thicker looking, while the fibers at the other end are spread out on the sternum and appear thinner.

What has been stated above is very true.

Let me play the devil's advocate here:
Bodybuilder types have been attempting many different methods to get different parts to develop faster than others. Even though spot fat reduction has not been proven, it could be aided by stimulating and emphasizing certain muscles and certain muscle fibers.
CT at T-nation has written a pretty smart article in defense of increasing mass in one part of the body. In theory, if you increase the stimulation by creating a synergistic dominant environment, you should get the effects you want. Of course this method will go against functional and AA type training, but bodybuilders usually care nothing for such things anyway.

So, you could possibly stimulate the middle chest fibers more than other chest fibers by manipulating certain factors in human kinetics.

That article is very interesting, but ultimately it is science fiction. Christian's conclusions go against known facts about physiology.

Any exercise which works the pectorals will work the entire length of the muscle, because the muscle's origin is the sternum and the insertion point is the humerus. There is no point in between which the muscle can anchor to, so any tension generated will pull the entire length of the fiber.
