Hey, I'm topher, long-time message board kid but new here.
Leigh (theleip) introduced me to the site and has been working to help me trim down. I've got a ways to go, but Leigh's very helpful, so hopefully I'll get where I want to in time.
I'm 25 and have always fallen solidly in the 'overweight' category... I've never really had a terrible diet, but am cursed by unfortunate genes and a fairly sedentary lifestyle... I was working as a contractor for several years, so I've developed some strength from that, but still have this nasty body fat to shed.
So, the last couple of weeks I've been loyally doing strength-training 3 days a week and HIIT twice a week. I've found the HIIT brutal, but it leaves me feeling great the next couple of days, so I've come to enjoy it.
I'm working on being more careful with my diet. I'm a vegetarian, which of course makes things a little more complicated when it comes to finding cheap, effective sources of protein. I've also realized that I don't quite eat enough, so I'm working on boosting that to get my metabolism in order. It'll probably take me a couple weeks to really get on track with how much to eat and when, but I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end.
Aside from that... I'm a music junkie and tend to talk a lot on message boards. Hence the long intro here.
I've been lurking the board for quite some time and have found a ton of great stuff here. So, I'll probably be poking my head in now and then with questions.
See you around!
