loosing too fast?

I went on my diet the New years DAy. I started at 140. Today I weighed myself and now I'm 125. am I loosing weight at a healthy speed?

Assuming that's all body weight and not water weight, yeah, that's waaay too fast. Especially for someone like you (who is not significantly overweight). Aim for 1-2 lbs a week. If you're losing weight faster than that, you're damaging your health, and it won't stay off. Find out what your is, multiply it by your activity level and then use a site like to build yourself a meal plan that allows you to get that amount minus 500 [1lb/day] to 1000 [2lbs/day] calories, but never go under about 1400 calories (for a female). If you want to lose fat at a faster rate, do it by exercising more, not by starving yourself. Starving yourself doesn't work!

Best wishes. :)

Update: Agreed, dswithers. I was somewhat single-minded in addressing only your actual question. To lose weight healthily you need to incorporate weight training, aerobic training and good nutrition. As well, dramatic changes in calorie intake or energy expenditure can be problematic (difficult to stick to, ineffective and unhealthy), so increase or decrease calories and exercise at reasonable rates.

The problem is you are probably loosing more lean body mass than fat at that rate. You need to concentrate on loosing body fat not loosing weight, or you will rebound and gain back more fat than the last cycle when you stop restricting calories.

If you have been highly restricting your calories, the safest way to recover from where you are now might be to do a gradual increase in calories, say 200 a week until you get back to your maintenance level, of course, coupled with a good resistance exercise program.
