The Warm Up

This is what I have compiled as what I need too do in my warm up.

-Increasing the core temperature of the body.

-Increasing the local temperature within the muscles.

-Mobilising all joints.

-Activating any inhibited muscles.

-Stretching any tight muscles.

What are some things I can do to accomplish all of these things for my warm up?

Normally What I do, I do some jumping jacks, stretch all my tight muscles, run some suicides, then finish up with a few sets of push-ups.

What can I do too improve?

The best time to stretch is after the workout. Stretching before if done improperly can actually be detrimental.

I always stretch after my workouts.

But I cant stretch before? I never stretch out completely like I do afterwards but when I have a sore or tight muscle in the morning what do I do? Just play it out and let it loosen up during my running?

Static stretch after. Dynamic stretching before. Leip has wonderful insights into this.

I <3 bands for warm up. Stuff like BTN pulldowns, step downs, pull aparts, GMs all for high reps.

Then start hitting about 50% of yer 1RM or intensity level and work up for a few sets from there should get the body primed and ready.

You're not as flexible beforehand, and the blood isn't flowing, and probably 10 other things. Basically what happens is that if you stretch hard, especially with quick bouncing movements, you can put microscopic tears all through your muscles, which isn't good. You really need to warm up for about 10 minutes before stretching significantly.
