Its not harmfull, but its in no way productive.

You need to add more resistance if you want to get stronger.

ready the sticky links in my sig.

A possibly related question might be... why aren't you doing 500 biceps curls, 500 triceps curls etc - the abdominals are a muscle group like any other and can be trained in the same way. You'd probably be better served with a full body weight workout and take off the majority of the crunches.

well im doing this to build abs cause i figured their harder to build than arm muscles i may be wrong my plan is to get abs and then build my biceps muscles etc

hmmm...you seem to be suffering from "overtraining-itice" Very common in people who don't READ around this forum :p

(maybe I shouldn't be talking with how much overtraining I do at wrestling )

Beach muscle is cool, but you want to gain it all in a certain time instead of certain muscle groups month by month? Start working your WHOLE body. 500 crunches is too many, if you feel that they are too easy and your not getting results, try variations (weighted crunches ... regular sets, not 500, russian twists, leg raises, etc. there are tons that work better than simple crunches) Do cardio to reveal ab muscle, and eat correctly.

Trust me, chicks don't dig dudes that are b!tches except for abs. Have nice solid pecs, tris, bis, abs, back, etc. Just my opinion

Find a Trainer

Find a trainer to help you with technique. In my experience if you can do 100 reps straight through you are not contracting the muscle properly.

When training abs tech. is of utmost importance to get the results that you want. If you are doing the exercise properly 20 reps will be the most you can do with proper tech. If you can do more it is time to progress to a more challenging exercise.
