Hi and welcome! Congrats on losing some weight so far.
Here are a few things to think about to continue weight loss:
~are you balancing you meals with lean proteins and complex carbs?
~strength training for your whole body is very beneficial. Burns lots of calories and can increase your metabolism
~how about varying your cardio? The long bike ride is great. Maybe instead of doing the bike ride every day you could do it 3 days a week and do high intensity intervals a couple days a week, and have at least one full rest day per week. Rest is very important!
~how much water are you drinking? Drink drink drink! It keeps the body functioning properly and allows you to metabolize more stored fat.

Hope that helps. If I can help any more please let me know.

Sarah

Are there any ways of strength training without going to the gym - i find it dull and tedious lol , like to do things out doors as a rule - did buy my self a roing machine but lost interest stuck inside :( (also didnt do my back any favours) what about swimming - would that help ? - im lost lol , ps my pic no work lol :(

There are ways to do strength training at home. There are body weight exercises like push ups, squats, lunges, calf raises, and lots of core and ab exercises. Also, if you had some dumbbells at home you could easily work your all your muscles adequately. 2 sessions a week of hitting all your muscle groups is adequate and will make a big difference.

I can personally attest to the dumbbells. Thanks to Sarah, I have toned my arms and legs - WITHOUT going to a gym!

cool cool , will get some weights if i can,
I used to have a verry fast metabolism but i had a few health issues a few years ago and the doc put me on some tablets which made me go from 12.5st to 17.5st in 4 months :( - that was when i was 19 , do you recon things like this could change your metabolism permenently?

I agree about DBs, but BBs and DBs still aren't the same and BBs have their place.

DBs are independant of each other, so the left arm can't help the right arm. This make them good for correcting or preventing imbalances. It also recruits more stabilizers as it utilizes a full independant 3 degrees of freedom (up/down, left/right, forward/back).

With a BB, the arms cooperate to accomplish the movement so if one side is weaker, the other will assist.

When you can, switch it up so you're training your body the way it works in life.

Just wanted to add that if you like the outdoors and it will motivate you... then make your workout in nature :)

I LOVE the outdoors. So for cardio I do hiking (intense hiking that is!) or trail running or swimming. For weights I do my workouts outside each morning. I just use dumbbells and a stability ball... plus some body weight exercises such as squats, lunges, push ups, etc.

I love being outside and the spring, summer, and fall are beautiful where I live. Winter is hard for me :) I gotta stay inside and workout :p

thanks for all your help so far , had a day off from the cycling , amases me how adictive it is lol - when doing situps i allways get cramp wihin 20 or do lol is there any way to improve this or will it just get better with time? sorry if im going on abit - all my mates think im mad with this fitness thing (largar louts) so i have built up lots of questions over thge past months lol

This is one piece that often gets overlooked. Do what keeps you motivated. Change it up, mix in some fun stuff: volleyball, cycling, hiking, anything that is fun, but exerts.

yea i defanatly agree , when the wether is hot like it is now and its abit hot for the cycling i go fishing which involves me walking pretty much non-stop round a lake for anywhere from 3 hours to 7 which is good fun and you dont think about it because you have enjoyed yourself :)

I think you should know that to lose weight and stay healthy doctors would recommend you not to lose more that 4 or 5 pounds per month...but I understand you...I train 5 hours each day and eat balanced diets (I'm followed by a nutritionist) and I'm only losing 1 or 1.5 pounds per week and I'm 140 pounds overweight:rolleyes:...sorry I was depressive at school and maybe even had agoraphobia, so I used to stay at home, eat a lot, watching movies and never exercising and this for 5 years so I did put on some weight. I did lose about 50 pounds (can you imagine I was 200 pounds over my weight:eek:?) but now I'm getting fed up with it too and I don't want to try diet pills because I don't think there's a magic pill to make you lose weight overnight doing nothing. I think swimming is a good sport for burning more fat on your overall body and also for body definition...you should try that if it's good and you don't want to go cycling...as for me I think I'm not gonna wait three more years to lose weight...a where she had lipo done around her thighs. She told me they're qualified docs and I should be able to afford it so I'm really considering that possibility now.

Ok, I had to read further. I was going to say, short of fly casting, fishing doesn't exert much except on your patience. :)

Don't feel too bad. Guys post thier pics in the women's picture gallery.

Really, I don't see a need to have a sexually segregated board. The muculature is the same for men and women. It's the goals that matter.

oops:eek:    .
