I'm new around these parts and I'm 2 months into my journey. I started at 230 and now I'm at 212. Things have been rolling along pretty nicely. Not too many cravings and I reward myself sufficiently.
Right now, I live with my parents. Being Indians, they cook a lot of Indian food, which is mostly vegetarian. Beans, vegetables, lentils, rice, and yogurt is basically what I eat. Also, it helps that the food tastes really good. The only problem I've had was to cut down on serving sizes. Also, most of the time I have no clue how many calories I eat so I have to eyeball and judge everything. It was hard at first, but I feel as though I'm trying eat healthy and not merely "dieting."
I work out 6 times a week and I've recently started a strength training regimen that is aided by a class at my college. I started off running but started to get aches and pain in my shins. My mom thinks it's shin splints and it may lead to stress fractures, which sucks because I got up to running 13 minutes at a time on 5.5 mph on a treadmill. I really looked forward to running prolonged periods of time, but now it seems less likely. Since I stopped running, I've picked up the elliptical trainer, which burn a boatload of calories but it's totally impractical like running. I've been thinking of switching to the stationary bike and increasing my endurance on my bicycle. I like the idea of riding bike because of its practicality and its a lot of fun. I suppose I need a bike first.
I only have one request from people replying to this thread: please don't use too many emoticons in one post. They give me headaches.
