Hey guys,

I'm trying to put together a reading list for myself on diet, exercise, weight loss and all things related so that I can build up a knowledge base for myself.

What are some of your recommended titles? Please provide the following

- Title, Author, date of publish
- Book topic
- Author credentials
- Does the author provide a good reference list for his material?
- What was particularly striking to you about the book?

I'll go first.

I've thus far read "How Fat Work" by Phillip Allen Wood, PHd (2006), which provided me with great insight into how fat metabolism functions. He's a university researcher and provides a lot of persuasive evidence for his claims. The book describes how exercise can change the way your body metabolizes energy (Insulin sensitivity), and provided a good overview for the difference between aerboic and anaerobic energy metabolism.

anything by Lyle McDonald... his writing style isn't for everyone he tends to not mince words but it's good stuff... check his website out for his credentials...

I dont have a lot of "diet books" but the two I do own are "You are what you eat" By Dr. Gillian Mckeith RD and the South Beach Diet book which I also thought was helpful. Other than that I really really like Self magazine.
