Hi, I am new here. I would like to know about your best weight loss tip.
Personally, I think the best tip to weight loss consists in persist with a plan. Usually I haven`t seen results inmediately. It takes me some weeks to achieve my goals and get the weight I want. And I get this only with persistence.

What is your best tip?

Carl

Hi i'm new here too :)

My tip is to get a close friend or family member to diet with you. For example, my sister is dieting with me so she knows what i'm going through and how tough it can be, and we both offer each other support. We exercise together in the evenings, so i know i have to do it because i cant let her down! We also fill in our food journals together, so i wont binge during the day because i feel like i'm letting her down aswell as myself.

My best tip is: Don't buy it if you shouldn't eat it...

the other more realistic tip, is if you are a snacker, have healthy snackable items at the ready, leave fruit and veggies cut up and ready to go in portioned sizes in the fridge. that way there's no excuse not to eat the good stuff.. (once a week after i do my grocery shopping, I'll cut up a head of celery and stow it i the fridge, I'll also steam some green beans, or asparagus, or even brocolli and leave that chilling in the fridge for snacks during the week....)

Find the best time for you to work out. For me, it is first thing in the morning- not only is it an energy booster but it is also good to get it out of the way. For you, it may be in the afternoon. Experiment!

Try new work outs. If you find yourself getting bored, don't be afraid to try something new. If makes it more exciting and you'll work new muscles.

Write down your goals. This works for me no matter what the goal, weightloss or otherwise. Write down what your goals are (lose ?? pounds, exercise ?? minutes a day, drink ?? glasses of water, etc.) and post them in different places around the house (bathroom mirror, fridge, etc.)

Also, if you cheat a little, don't let it blow your whole day. Be patient and enjoy yourself!

Best of luck!

Hey, Carl.

My tip is to take one day week to cut up veggies, get greens ready for salads, cook some lean meats, so when you don't feel like cooking you always have easy healthy food available. This makes me much less likely to eat processed or fast food. Don't forget to drink your water.

All great tips! My addition is moderation and exercise. I actually have cheeseburgers, pizza, chocolate, etc. I just make sure I don't over do it. Or I make the sweets sugar fee. I've stated this in other posts but I don't believe in denying the things you enjoy. It just leads to failure and binging. Just have some will power. If you eat a little too much of the sweets, do a little extra exercise. It all comes down to burning more than you consume! And have fun with it!

And yes, I am losing the weight and I don't feel like I'm about to go crazy because of something I crave.

My best tip - find an exercise that you like (even love) and stick with it. Maybe several different. Try to get 5 work-outs or more in a week. If you are social, find one that involves others. If you're solitary, get an IPod loaded with your favorite tunes and go for it. Honestly, it is so hard to lose through diet alone! Exercise really helps if you are fortunate enough to not have physical limitations to doing so (like our dear friend Hypo Hippo!)

All the best and keep coming here for support!

Speed eating is one of my worst habits... So to slow down, I force myself into taking a sip of water between each bite, as well as putting down the fork... It feels strange doing it but I imagine it will become a habit soon enough the same way that speed eating was a habit..

My tip...

- keep a food diary- keeps you accountable
-Get some measuring cups- keeps you portions under control

I agree with TrekRyder 100%. For me, it has been to not obsess over the days I eat something I want and should not have. I now forgive myself and just work out that much harder the next day to make up for it. This way, I can have the best of both worlds, get the results I want and not hate mysef for it!

My first tip is to give myself one treat meal per week. I choose Friday's because it's a nice way to wind down from the week and I weigh myself that day. I learned this from Weight Watchers.

It motivates me to eat good during the week because I know I can have something bad on Friday without feeling guilty. As long as you don't overdo it, and you get right back on the diet the next day, it wont affect your weight at all. :)

Drink lots of water. lots and lots of water. And don't let your calories get so low that your body goes into starvation mode.
