I am on some psychiatric medication and I am thinking this could be a factor in my weight gain. I recall when I first started the medication I was only maybe 10 pounds overweight. I told my doctor that I would like to avoid weight gain as a side effect. He then commented on how I was at a healthy weight and started asking me if I am anorexic or bulimic.
My point here is my doctor's mentality that just because I wasn't fat at the time that I shouldn't be concerned about weight loss or maintenance for some reason. Lo and behold many months later I am 50+ pounds overweight.
Another example to illustrate my point is another anti depressant medication that I refused to take because of some of the side effects. "Grow breasts and lactate" (I'm male btw). Even if its somewhat rare to experience this side effect I'd rather not find out one day that I am lactating. I think I'd rather be depressed.
So have you encountered these weight loss saboteurs? I'd love to hear some stories.
