Hey,

I've heard that full-fat yoghurts are healthier overall than diet varieties. Does anyone know if this is true? What about pro-biotic types?

Thanks

healthier? in what way?
Low fat yogurts have less calories, are better to loose weight with, and have just the same amount of goodness than full fat as far as i know.

I believe that as long as the yogurt has active cultures in it (not all do) then you're getting the health benefits of it... I'm not sure that the full fat version has anything healthier in it than the low fat variety (though the greek yogurt which is full fat and incredibly rich is oh so yummy tasting as a treat :)

Does anyone have a list of yogurt brands with active cultures in them? I eat Trader Joe's brand (a food store chain in parts of the U.S.), but never bothered to check (and I'm at work right now, so I can't run to my fridge).

I'm fairly certain all yogurts in the US with active cultures has to have "Contains Live Cultures" on the label as a USDA regulation. No real need to have a list of them.

Any yogurt that contains active cultures is pro-biotic, brands like Dannon Activia are just more aggressive about pushing that point. Activia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Yogurt is good for health. It is a good factor that you like it.Try to take low fat ones.I take yogurt once a while (like ten days) like a dessert .

I usually have yogurt once every few days, sometimes even every day. If you are trying to lose weight, get the low fat one's, as they generally have fewer calories (and of course fat!). Be sure to check the amount of sugar in it though, as many companies will just swap out the fat for sugar, which is doing you no good.

Good luck!

Oh, and check out my blog in my sig. I update it daily with weight loss and nutrition tips. Thanks!
