Yoga for flexibilty?

This is for my husband who has had 2 back surgeries (herniated disc) Its been 2 yrs since last surgery he's 28yr old and 6'4. His D.R. has given him the ok to use his back.
Because of his surgeries he's scared to bend or stretch his back at all. Just recently my sister who is a massage therapist has worked on him for back pain said that he has no flexibilty and is probably the root of his lower back and leg pain since he is so tight. I've told him about him not stretching or using his back , told him the ol "if you don't use it you'll lose it " so my question is there a good beginner yoga dvd that focus on stretch and flexibilty? I'm talking real beginner stuff. Maybe pilates?
What would you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance

I have AM/PM Yoga for Beginners - Rodney Yee and I think it's good for a beginner. As I recall (I've not done the DVD in a while though) the AM part is mainly stretching and the PM part is the actual workout.

Another option would be to seek out a yoga class from a good instructor.

Thanks for the reply. I know he won't go to a class, i'll be lucky if he'll actually do a dvd.

make sure he does the exersices correctly. Yoga has alot of critique for being bad for you're back. Ever seen the bridges they do? They should NOT be lower back mobility, alot of yoga people really hyperextent their lowerback in bridges.
