Yet another new guy...

Hi there! Thought I would just introduce myself. My name is Garrett and I'm a Senior in High School. I'm glad to find a forum that seems to be pretty busy and has quite a few motivated people!

My primary goal on this forum is to lose 20+ lbs of pure fat and build up lean muscle. Not sure how long this will take but I'm willing to do it! But when I do, I hope that I will be a much happier and more of an optimistic person. I also need a great amount of motivation. It seems like any time I try and lose weight. I just slow down until I reach a halt. I take a day off, that turns into two days, then to three, then to a whole month! Then I just give up all together. Hopefully this will change :)

I guess that's about it so I'll see ya'll around on the forum! :D

Welcome aboard man.

Losing fat and gaining muscle simultaneously isn't an easy task. Our bodies do not like doing both at once. I'd focus on one goal at a time.

That should be the least of your worries at the moment anyhow.

You should be focusing on establishing a mind-frame based on healthy lifestyles. You will find motivation and support in places like this, certainly. But without some internal drive and burning desire, chances are you won't succeed.

So begin by asking yourself some questions? Why is losing weight important to me? Is it worth the struggle? If I don't lose weight, what will be down the road? When I decide to do things to throw my attempts off track, or those things worth the price of not losing weight?

It's all about thinking about what you think about. Get control of your mind and you'll have control of your body.
