~Yappy's Diary~

Hello folks. Here's a little bit about me to start my Diary....

I'm now 29 and a happily married stay-at-home mother of two. I have worked for many years in investments & insurance and my husband and I decided this summer that I can stay at home with my 4 year old son and I would (or was supposed to have) stress-free days and a little bit of freedom to do family things. -Yea right. (With a 4 YEAR OLD!?!) lol

To brag a a little bit... my oldest son (9) races BMX and is currently #2 in the state of TN. Sunday he has MS State Championships so we can only hope for a nice finish and no injuries to head to Albany Georgia this coming Friday, Sat. & Sun. for the Southeast Regional Champhionship. Sheesh, another 10 hour drive. :( We are very proud of his accomplishments thus far, however, it is very difficult to have time for myself and to eat right on the road so much. We are always stopping to get burgers, chips and the usual/typical American garbage.

So, two years ago I took Phentermine which gave me TONS of energy, but I very quickly gained the weight back because I did not stick to a regular exercise program...and it was getting mighty cold and I talked myself out of going outside for any type of activities because it "was too cold".

Now I am back where I was before, very unhappy - borderline depressed about my weight and overall wellbeing. Not to mention my sexual life with my hubby has definately been effected. :( Sure, I am not WAY overweight, but for me it is very difficult to be the weight I currently am now. For my height, I should be around 100-115 pounds. Instead, I'm at 140-142 and have absoutely NOTHING to wear and REFUSE to go buy bigger clothes. I don't want to go out anywhere because everything is too tight, or doesn't look right, so I avoid it by just not going to whatever events and jsut stay home.

Yesterday, I started my own program and hope it works. I feel like it will so I'll keep you all posted.

welcome to the forum.. you've come to the right place for support and encouragement and the occasional kick int he patootey...

sounds like you've got a great family - witha future celebrity of a son... my brother used to race bmx when he was a kid - he'd get really dirty but it was alwaysa good time... :D

good luck and hopefully your program has good results. keep us updated.

and maybe you could post your program. =)

Yesterday went really well and I am especially proud to say that on our way home last night, hubby stopped at Krystal's for a couple of burgers for the boys and I didn't eat any...not one! YAY ME! I used to love Krystal burgers, so it was veeeery tempting, but I ignored those yummy smells. When we got home I had a few mini carrots.

I also walked 1.5 miles.

Hi Yappy. I read your post about running, so I'm sure we'll hear more about that soon. Just keep walking until you are ready.

How tall are you I wonder? Don't mean to pry, I just wonder if we are a little similar. I am 5'4".

Did you only have carrots for dinner????? Don't deprive yourself totally or you won't make it in the long haul. Consider calculating the calories you need each day, then counting them (for a couple of weeks to learn the correct portion size and calorie count for most of the foods you like to eat -or- like some people here for as long as necessary). Knowing what calories you've consumed and how many you have left sounds complicated but is actually freeing. You can give in to a favorite treat knowing the rest of your day will be balanced. That's a sensible, long term way of eating.

Good luck and welcome!

Hey Yappy good luck with your weight loss!!!!

What IS your plan if you don't mind me asking? You counting calories or on a specific diet program?

Well done for resisting the burgers-willpower! You know, after a while I bet your new healthy eating habits will catch on to your family, and they won't even be eating the burgers!!

Thanks everyone. I really don't have a "set plan" this time...I'm just doing what I know helped me succeed last time so well. My results were something I was very proud of, but obviously disgused that I gained alot of that weight back.

I will admit to drinking a Red Bull many mornings to help me get going, but other than that, just watching what I eat and restrict "to go" food, crappy snacks and sodas... no inbetween junk for me. For breakfast, I am actually measuring the cereal according to what is on the box so that is definately helping I can tell already.

For those who have asked about my goal weight, I am very short...not quite 5'1" so 105 pounds is very reasonable for my height and small bone structure & frame. Thanks for everyone's concern and comments.

Today it is raining here in Memphis, but I didn't let that stop me. I put on my rain gear and hit the pavement. :D That was kinda different thought. Windy, very wet and rainy, but I still pushed to go 1.5 miles. Glad I didn't get sucked in to stay inside. At least now I can say I've walked in the rain before. :D

Doing great again today! I walked this morning, but not sure how far....farther than normal I know. I think I will hop in the car and check the mileage just to see. I think it was 2 miles though. I did great not eating Taco Bell too. I took the boys to eat, but I didn't eat there. YAY ME AGAIN!!!

So I measured the distance I walked yesterday and was surprised it was 2.4 miles! Whoo-hoo!!!! I knew it was about 2 or close to 2, but didn't seem like more than that so I'm kinda proud! :D So then I decided to walk that again this morning. It was BEAUTIFUL outside today! - like 74 degrees. My kind of weather. ;) Diet is going great, no temptations have got me yet!

Yappy,
If you don't mind me asking...do you think it would have been possible to keep the weight off after you did phentermine if you had exercised? I am starting the pill next. My PCP is starting me on them next week along with B12 shots. I am not opposed to exercise, really. But I have found that since I have gained the weight, it is just harder to do. I have always enjoyed weight lifting and would really love to get into running. My little ones make it hard to run but they are getting older where I can go down the street to the school and let them play while I run circles around them..seriously. They play and I jog the field around them. I have been pretty good at maintaining loss..its the baby weight that kills me everytime.

Yappy hasn't been active on the site since 10-31-2006 - you might want to start a diary of your own and ask the question there :D
