Worried.

Howdy.

I decided to loose weight last month, January 4th? I started eating a 1800 calorie diet and running each day.

I got bad ankle and leg pain (shin splints, I think) about a week or more in and so I couldn't run anymore... (I'm finally getting healed up)

I'm worried because my diet isn't perfect, I live with alot of other people and we dont have loads of cash so alot of the time I end up eating bad foods because its the only thing I can get my hands on, but I do try to stay at or around 1800. But sometimes we're short on food and I only can make 1000 calories or so (not alot, maybe once every 10 days)

I'm also worried about my lack of exercise and have looked into buying a bike. (I also have been needing this, I just got into a night-schooling program and It'd be nice not having to take the city bus everyday)

I was wondering how badly my eating habbits would slow me down untill I can buy a bike :) (I should be getting a good enough amount of money soon.

My scale also broke  so I can't get a correct reading from that thing. Growl.

My weight = 230-240lb.
My Height = 5'10

I'm open to all tips and suggestions, I really want to do this. I have been trying really hard :)

try something low impact until you get some weight off and its less impact on your legs. Perhaps walking rather than running (walking uphill at a good pace is just as calorie burning as running but with less impact).

Also lifting milk bottles refilled with water is great for weights. Use your imagineation.
Dont worry about eating 1000 cals every now and again. Weight loss is a moving average of the calories used/eaten.
