World Cup of Weight-Loss

Hi all! I have been a member on this forum for quite while, but inactive since... too long ago.

Basically I'm back because this site has helped me before and I believe it can again!

My weight problem:

Basically on and off binge eating and overeating in general since I can remember. Close family history of Anorexia and Bulimia, so I guess that explains it a LITTLE.
I'll be getting more into the psychology of things in this diary as I go along, so if you're looking for a quick fix this is not the one to read.

Another thing:

I actually was very successful in losing over 20 pounds about 2 years ago, and at that stage I became a "group leader" for a few weight-loss groups run by Weigh-Less here in South Africa.
All this time I have been running weekly weightloss meetings and weigh-ins, yet slowly letting my own lost weight creep back on

I FEEL LIKE AN IMPOSTER... but I know I am just like the countless people who join (and rejoin) my groups. I need to set an example, and I'm ready.

My goal:

Get healthy, get fit and get to know myself better along the way.

Oh, and while the FIFA Soccer World Cup is kicking off in my backyard, I figured I may as well theme this journey :)

aYYY AYYYY ayyYyyy!!!!! I've missed this little curious face!! :) It's so funny that you say that you feel like an IMPOSTER because I completely understand you!! Since the last time we talked, I finished school, graduated and became a Hypnotherapist!! Damn right!!! I did it! :)

Now I help people just like us to lose the weight. When I'm not in alignment with my weight loss as well, I feel the same way YOU do. That doesn't mean that the feeling is right. I'm not an imposter, just as YOU are not. You do the running. I do the running. Ran a Full 26.2 mile marathon in October. Not sure if you were around then, BUT...that means again, that I'm not the imposter. Just as you continue running and you are not either.

I constantly have to find reasons for which I am knowledgeable in helping people with the same things I struggle with. But for that reason alone, YOU ARE THE BEST PERSON to help them, because you understand their ups and downs just like THEY DO! You are THE SHIT my dear!!! I'm so happy that you are BACK!!!

So how's the bf? Still living together? (I moved out and got my own place 3 months ago, we are still together with the bf, but....happier on my own)...5 1/2 years and counting...(5 and some change years living together though)

How's the job, I remember you were hating life for a moment cause of it? How many groups are you running now? Are they all weight loss or mixed in with running groups still? So how often do you guys meet? Member count? ....and of course, my occasional vise as well,...how is the SMOKING?! hahahah ;)

Sorry so many questions...just missed you!!!! :) ...it's time to RESHIFT focus back onto OUR weight loss as well and be the EXAMPLES that we should be!!! :D!

Well to answer some questions, I am still with the boyfriend, going on 4 years in August! Still living together, looking to buy a place together with a GARDEN! for a PUPPY!!!

Smoking... err.... stayed off cigarettes for quite a while... but struggle with that one! Will be weighing in again this weekend, so hopefully some change, but haven't really been giving it my all...

My job: I am currently working in Client Services and sales for a storage company. Loving it! So much more fun dealing with people all day than with computers (even though you can't quite cut the computer communication out). Up for a management position for a new branch :)

Thinking of doing the couch to 5k running plan (again!) IT ALWAYS WORKS! So watch this space!

Anke!!! Another friendly face!! I too am an "old timer" of the forum - used to be "heathercb04" or something to that extent. While I of course never want to see those I have previously struggled with come back to the forum for support, it is nice to know that I am not the only one!!! I had to give myself a new name to support the "new me" that I'm trying to kick into gear!

So exciting to hear that you and the boy are going to move in together! What a great time in your life! Also, when quitting smoking - weight loss is SUPERBLY HARD. When I did it 2 years ago, I just gave up on weight loss and focused on the cigs. I couldn't have done it otherwise. Then again, now I get to focus on the extra 40lbs I gained because I didn't pay attention to my food!!! So best of luck to you - you have my support and admiration!!!

Glad to see you here :)

Ankee how are you?! Are you coming back? I'm thinking of starting a new thread like you have for my new attempt at weight loss. I was hoping to have some old friends to follow me through my journey like old times!! Well if you do come back check my profile to see if I've started anything new..... or I'll just drop ya the link when I make it. Love ya!! Amanda
