Workouts & Sports training

Hi all.

I do football (Soccer) every thursday for 1 1/2, its usually around half hour sprints and running, half hour ball work and half hour game. on saturdays we have a match but i dont get the full 90 minutes do to the 'old boys' attitude of the club.

How does everyone else use sports in their training? im always aware of the possibility for burning up muscle as i run 2-3 times a week away from football. i want toned and defined rather than big and bulky, i eat well etc etc, but i feel that my gym work would get better results without the football, but i aint giving it up!

That's all you run for your soccer team? I'm guessing it's your school soccer...but anyway we ran alot more than that we ran about 2 mile warm up around the blocks and sprints and all that good stuff..but anyway use soccer as your cardio work out to tone your body and then lift weights to make your body have muscles

well for the "tonned look" you need to train the same as a bodybuilder, just not for as long. If you want to look tonned you gotta have low body fat and muscle. with out the muscle you'll just be skinny.

your right, it would be easyer to build muscle if you didnt play football but thats up to you. you gotta do what you enjoy.

Well I train (for soccer) 4 times a week with two teams and still fit the workouts in. I dont think it has had a huge adverse effect on my weight training I just dont have to do cardio!
