Workout recommendations

i was wondering if i could get any tips on working out? All i got is 2 5 lb curling bells, and a 20 lb one, and i usually do 21's with both 5 lb's in my right hand, and curl the 20 lb like 10 times about 5 times a day, and occassionally do like 10 one hand push ups with each hand. But, i'm kind of mainly concerned with my triceps, and can't find any decent excercies. Anyway, i'm 16 and weigh 120 lbs, and can't seem to gain or lose a single pound, i swear i've been at the same weight for like 6 months now. Anyway, thanks for the tips in advanced.

Weight gain is related to diet, not what you pick up and lift. Other than that, go to www.exrx.net and check out their exercise list. Have you asked your parents to get you some heavier dbs or join a gym?

there's a gym opening that's kinda close, not sure bout conditions to join it though, and i don't like gyms much, kinda prefer working out in private. But, not sure my mother would buy any weights, always got an excuse when i ask for something :p

You are going to have to do more than curls if you want to start building muscle. You need to start working your entire body.........chest, shoulders, back, legs. Your tricep and bicep exercises should not even be your focus at this point. If you can't afford to buy some weights you need to join a gym. Once you go a couple of times, you'll realize there's no reason to be intimidated. No one is interested in watching you or cares how much weight you're putting up. Joining a gym is much more realistic than purchasing weights for your home. If you want to start building muscle this is something you are going to have to do. Once you get over your fear of joining a gym, do research or talk to a trainer that works there to find a good routine for your body type and goals. Based on your current routine, it is apparent you don't know anything at this point. Don't waste your time and energy by doing a possible counterproductive workout. It will pay off to start correctly. You will be a step ahead if you start correctly. It takes work. If it was easy everybody would be walking around with perfect bodies.

Well, like i said, even if i were to attend a gym, there's nothing near me, and i don't have a car being only 16, and most gyms tend to have you meet a required age, and it's usually above 16. And that gym that's opening by me, i'm not sure when it's opening and i heard the hours for it are gonna be weird because guys and girls work on seperate schedules

take pw23 advice seriously. I wasted a year working out incorrectly. It's the small things that count, eating right, form while training, how many sets/reps, etc. You probably know very little about that stuff now and there is always something to learn regardless.

If you don't want to join a gym, i suggest you research everything you can about working out for what you want your body to look like, books, forums, online articles are very helpful. Before you even start you should do this, a week or 2 of researching will save you MANY MANY hours in the gym.

Once your done researching make a routine, what your gona be eating everyday, cardio, weights. Than save up for the machine, weights you need. Than start pumping and you will be ripped a lot faster than doing it the stupid random way, like i did. Your lucky, your on this forum, I didn't even know about these things before I started working out loll. They are very helpful most the guys know what their talking about.

Also, don't target a set of muscle, you MUST work the whole body. It's MUCH healthier and you will grow a LOT faster and more efficiently
