Workout Assistance - Obliques & Hips

Hello All,
I was hoping you might be able to help me. I am having a good bit of problem targeting my sides (obliques) and my hips (right underneath my obliques - not sure what this area is called?)
Anyway, I can't seem to dig up any exersizes that target this area. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!!

An exercise that seriously works the 'sides' of your body is actually quite straightforward... not sure if you already knew this one, but here it goes anyway:

Take a heavy dumbbell in one hand lowered beside you while standing straight. Now slightly bend sideways lowering the dumbbell, and quickly bend to the other side. Switch sides afterwards. You can do the same by holding a cable and letting that 'pull' you down, instead of the weight of the dumbbell.
If performed correctly, you'll definately feel sore in the targeted area the next days ;)

That is a great excercise. I think my favorite is the side bend on a 45 incline. Usually used for back extensions. Except you get on your side to target the obliques. it is like doing a sit up for your side. Also you can hold a weight to further your progress.
