working out yet gaining weight

Hello ...
I just started working out intensely over the past 3 weeks ...2 days strength training with a personal trainer...mostly with own body weight on legs and with weights on arms/chest etc. Cardio for 4 days a week...working in certain heart rate zones given by my trainer. I am drinking a ton of water and eating right. But I have gained about 3-4 pounds instead of lost and its almost as if my legs feel bigger ... Is this normal???

It's probably normal. I am not the best person to give advice so I'll let someone who knows what they're talking about do that.

I just wanted to tell you that I have that problem when I get out of the habit of drinking water and then I start up again, I gain a few pounds from the water but it eventually evens out. If you weren't drinking water before, it's probably the same thing. Don't worry about the scale.

Is this the first time you have strength trained? While it's difficult for women to gain muscle (I'm assuming you're female?), muscle gain is likely when you first start strength training. Try not to worry about the weight on the scale. Also keep in mind that scale weight fluctuates a great deal.

You say you're eating right...but what does that mean? Sometimes people think they are eating right, but aren't eating ina way that is condisive for them to lose fat.

Water and muscle weighs more than fat and thats probably why the scale is disapproving, especially with people that are beginning to strength train.
Try not to weigh yourself too frequently at this time. Measuring your biceps, stomach, waist, thighs etc. could help at keeping with your progress

Keep going on workout

Yes, it's normal.

If you never did strenght training it is normal that you gani some (very) small quantity of muscles, because you never used your muscles before. But this is the iniatial effect. Also muscles weight much more than fat, but take smaller place.

So don't concentrate on how much you weight, continue your workouts and results will come.

About water - if this is the first time you drink "tones of water" (specify what means that) - your body feels happy of this plenty of water. When you have some time of regurly intaking water, you body will start to clean out all water and also all toxins, etc. Keep on drinking water. I think that at this moment you keep water in your body, because of insufficiency in the past.

Believe in yourself and everything will take place :)
