Working Out With a Cold?

I have a disgusting head cold. So it doesn't seem very appropriate to head to the gym when I'm blowing my nose every five minutes. I feel well enough to work out (as long as I've got some kleenex with me). I could do a little resistance training at home or maybe go for a jog (weather is questionable...) but I'm not sure if it will make me feel better or worse.

What do you guys do when you're sick?

I am sorry I have no good reply for you Copperboom, I was actually wondering about the same thing actually and then saw the reply you got and trying to figure out how to report this jonusb with his dirty mind.........

For me, it depends entirely on how I feel. If I feel well enough to walk, I will go for a walk (not fit enough to run - yet). In case of a cold, going outside usually makes me feel a lot better actually. The same goes for resistance or weights - if I personally feel up to it, I will do it. I might tire out quicker, or start to feel woozy, which I take as my body's way to let me know that it had enough. But usually, as said, it actually makes me feel a little better.

Basically, as long as you can do it without feeling any worse, I don't think there is any harm in giving it a try. Start out easy, listen to your body, and take it from there.

as much as possible. I don't work out with a cold. I wait until it subsides so I can do my workout without having to worry about the emabrassing runny nose and sneezing :drool5:

First it does not matter if you work out or not with a cold. I have an article on some sites called, You will not get the flu unless you need to. Colds and flus are designed to cleanse the body and get rid of toxins. I experiemented for years where I would choose what years to get the flu and which ones not to get them.

Getting plenty of sleep and not eating too much is important to healh. But you are too busy with important things to get enough sleep. So your body forces you to take a break by making you feel sick as a dog. The quickest way to get over a cold is to help it to do its job. You can fast or just eat fruit to get over it very qucikly. This <link removed> helps you to understand why you get them and how to avoid them if you want to.

Why would anyone not want to avoid them? Well there is a price to pay. It requires time and some say that time is money. The above says "The New York Times recently reported on a study that found that those who get less than seven hours of sleep a night are three times as likely to catch a cold as those who sleep at least eight hours a night." There are many factors that affect your immune system and the toxins in your body.

So the bottom line is that you have many priorities in your life like money, roamance, gluttony and many other thngs. Your body has only one priority and that is to be as healthy as it can. It can even make it so you cannot eat. Colds and flus are good for your health whereas your lifestyle can be bad for your health.
