Working out when sore?

I've been really looking forward to tonight's workout, but I'm still a little bit sore from the day before yesterday. It's very mild, nothing serious, but I'm wondering how much recuperation I should allow myself before working out again.

I'd hate to postpone my workout, but I'd also hate to get less of a benefit from it.

I had a stiff arm the other day. I been going to gym now for 3 months and when i first went i got sore. It's probably saw when you're not working out but i guarantee that when you start your usual exercises your body parts seem to unstiff and any pain you have, just goes away. Only reason i became stiff and sore was because now i started on heavier lifting. Maybe your heavier lifting, more than you should, or you're just doing too much.

I don't have a workout plan either, but im coming along great

as long as you can tell the differance between sore and injured its ok :), I had some surgery a couple weeks ago and didnt get outta bed for about 3 days and didnt work out for 6 and when I went back I was so sore that first day but the next day I hit the gym and the working out helped loosen up my muscles and felt great, of course was even more sore after that work out but hey its all worth it in the end I think

start light, if the pain goes then uve warmed it up and it ok to use, but if it gets worse then stop ASAP, just work on another body part.

I always take injurys as an opertunity to try something new and change my workout for a week or so while it rests. If i have a back problem, i'll do tai chi and swim for a few weeks to let the body recover. an arm or shoulder inury i'll work on my fittness and and core muscles.

Great advice is to get freindly with gym staff, even more so if they are trained in sports injury massage. My new girlfriend saves me £100/week!!!!
