Working out my triceps wrong......

OK I feel as if Im working them out wrong, because I know the Tricep has three heads, When I work out I feel that 2 are really worked out, but I notice that the one right above the armpit (where the flab likes to hang out) doesn;t seem to grow.... I think im no working it out. Anyone can give any suggestions?

Exersizes such as the bench press and military press work the triceps pretty well. I would not fall into the mindset of thinking that you should have to actually isolate every portion of the triceps. Have you done dips? Dips are probably the best all around tricep exersize in my mind. Dips and bench presses should be enough.

dips are for sure great for triceps
same goes for bench press ...

french press is also very good

others are tricep extensions and dumbell kickbacks.

tricep dips (closer grip) gave me the best surge of size and strength in my triceps of any exercise. however, be very careful with the exercise.

If you're going to do dips, just like with any exersice - make sure your not rushing and be safe. In the past, I have had to take more then 1 day off because of the use of bad form. It's kinda easy to tweak yourself if you're not focused.

yeah, i think the closer grip version is much safer, but as with the wide grip, you can really wreck your shoulders if you're not careful.

but when done safely, you should see greta results.

I'm not as experienced as most guys on this forum, but I can say that from doing dips, my triceps have definitely improved considerably. I also enjoy doing them.

Well thanks for all the Suggestions, but All I have right now are Free weights. No dip bars, closest place to dip bars is at my school, which is about 2 miles away.

I agree that it is not necessary to isolate each part of the triceps to make good gains in triceps strength and size.
There are three main triceps exercise positions:
1. arms by your side: dips, triceps kickbacks, reverse bench dips, etc.
2. arms out in front of you: pushup, close grip bench press, lying triceps extensions (nose breakers), etc.
3. arms overhead: skull crushers, military press, etc.
For variety you should do at least one movement in each position. Triceps are also worked somewhat by bent rows, pull downs and pullovers while you are working lats.

If the bar slips or you give up....you'll crush your skull.

Hope this helps, WOLVERINE.

I almost thought that was Beverly Crusher from Star Trek the Next Generation lol. Thanks DM. you think those are really good for triceps?

Even better are french curls. The same motion as the scull crusher, except don't bring the bar to eye level. Push the bar back at a 45 degree angle and bring back at the same angle. This will keep constant tension on your tris, as well as your stabilizers. An all around better exercise.

That exercise in the picture is a nose breaker or lying triceps extension. French press or "skull crusher" is done seated or standing and the weight is lowered behind your head, or if you do it wrong on top of your head thereby crushing your skull!
