Working Out if on Antibiotics? Yes or No? I Need to know Please.

Simply that question. I unfortunately got a bad cut on my leg, and thought it would heal as usual, but it started really hurting like **** and getting weird liquids coming out the hole, I went to the hospital and they immediately gave me 6 days antibiotics and a cream. It is actually much better already, after 2 days...

But anyway, Honestly, from the physical point of view, I'd say I don't feel like super great these days but well enough to workout. I'd like to know if Physically, Naturally, Antibiotics, do they influence performance in ANY way that could bother the exercising?

Thankyou in advance.

It’s questionable whether it could bother exercising or not. But it is certain that there are some side effects of antibiotics. If you know that those side effects then you would become more cautious while taking antibiotics.

The most common side effects of antibiotics affect the digestive system. These occur in around 1 in 10 people. Side effects of antibiotics that affect the digestive system include:

• Being sick
• Feeling sick
• Diarrhea
• Bloating and indigestion
• Abdominal pain
• Loss of appetite

You need to keep in mind that these side effects are usually mild and should pass once you finish your course of treatment. If you experience any additional side effects other than those listed above you should contact with your doctor for advice.

But antibiotics have allergic reactions also. Around 1 person in 15 has an allergic reaction to antibiotics, especially penicillin and cephalosporin. In most cases the allergic reaction is mild and moderate and can take the form of:

• A raised itchy skin rash (urticaria or ‘hives’)
• Coughing
• Wheezing
• Tightness of the throat, which can cause breathing difficulties.

These mild to moderate allergic reactions can usually be successfully treated by taking a medication known as antihistamines.

Alarmingly antibiotics have another severe side effect. They can be life threatening also. This is very rare. Estimated to be somewhere between one and five in 10,000. This is called anaphylaxis. Initial symptoms of anaphylaxis are often the same as above and can lead to:

• A rapid heartbeat
• Increase breathing difficulties due to swelling and tightening of the neck
• A sudden intense feeling of apprehension and fear
• A sharp and sudden drop in your blood pressure, which can make you feel light-headed and confused
• Unconsciousness

I try to explain it in details. I believe now you got all possible side effects of antibiotics. We need to take antibiotics for quick recovery from illness or soreness. So take it with cautious.
