working out for almost 3 weeks now, not a single pound lost

I've got a conundrum that has been driving me crazy. I've been working out for the past 2 1/2 weeks, 5 days a week, hour per day and I have not lost any weight. I even kicked out sweets from my diet and made my portions smaller.

It just kinda makes me angry cause my friend is doing Herbalife, doesn't work out and has lost like 10 pounds already. Haha.


is there something else I should be doing? am I missing something?
 
Calorie counting may be the way to go for you. I found that smaller portions didn't really help me because I would just eat throughout the day. Those calories really add up fast. I was eating way more than I needed to. You should calculate your bmr on the calculator on this site and then reduce it by 500 calories. That plus your working out will help you drop the weight.

Calorie counting works great for you. However, it doesn't work for everyone. If you find you're still not losing weight, snoop around this forum and you'll find how others have tackled their weight loss!

What sort of 'workout' are you doing? Bear in mind also you may be building muscle. How much do you want to lose? I'd hate to see you get into the calorie-counting trap if you are really making progress now but just don't see it on the scales. Have you measured your chest, waist, etc with a tape measure? Any change there? You may still be eating too much white flour and not enough fruit & veg, for example. You may just need to make some better substitutions.
 
I just want to correct my previous post by saying you need to use a weight maintenance calculator and reduce whatever the number is by 500. Do not use your BMR as this could cause you to eat a dangerously low amount of calories.

I was going to edit my original post, but thought a second one would draw more attention to my mistake so no one would pay attention to my previous post.

I would give yourself a bit more time... 2 1/2 weeks isn't always enough time to start seeing results. If you stick with it, you'll likely be better off in the long run than your friend on Herbalife (and you wont' be wasting your money :))
