Working out 7 days a week...?

I've been working out 7 days a week ...
I 've been alternating daily either 30 mins of cardio and 30 mins weight training or 60 mins of cardio and no weight training. I really want to start to loose the weight. How long approx. till I see a difference. Also, will this type of workout help me loose the weight? Any information on the subject would be great. Thanks!!

Take one day of full rest. Its best not to do cardio and weight training back to back. A popular approach is weight train one day, cardio the next. 45 to 60min each session.

This along with diet and you can reach your goals.

I have been thinking about buying a treadmill, along with healthy eating how often do you think it should be used, i was gonna start off with just doing 20-30 mins a day. I read on that the Weslo 400 CS treadmill ia alright? what do you think?

Here is another pretty good site about treadmills:

Their prices include shipping, I think. I get my equipment from them.

Working out 7 days a week is not good. You should allow yourself 1-2 days of rest.

Personally I do walking every day. If I miss even one day I feel really sluggish and my energy levels go totally out of whack... As for vigorous workouts though, I'd definitely keep 1-2 days in the week to rest

Treadmills are surely the most ridiculous machine man has ever invented!

There is not an able bodied human being on this planet who cannot go for a walk- it is the simplest thing in the world- just go outside!

And you also get some fresh air. Why not walk/run to the gym and walk/run back. That way you get warmed up and cooled down and you get in a significant amount of cardio.

And if you do it in the rain or snow you get a wonderful stuffy nose as well. And if your really lucky you just might get runover by a car :). I'm so gald you mention that....seeing as the nearest gym to me is like 10 miles away...how could i be so stupid.:)

I'd recommend doing cardio and weight training on separate days. That way your getting your exercise every day and you have the energy to put forth your best effort and get the most out of the workout.

If your weight training, you certainly need rest day(s) in between unless your alternating doing different muscle groups on different days.

I'd also recommend taking one day a week off from working out to give your body rest. If you want, go for a nice walk or roller blade or something to get moving, but nothing strenuous. (That's my opinion)

And of course in fat loss diet is very important. Do you have an eating plan?
The basics are to eat healthy food and make sure your giving your body the stuff it needs and not harmful junk. Also important are eating more smaller meals throughout the day, drinking lots of water, and changing the amount of calories you take in according to what you want to accomplish. There are tons of threads on this site with all kinds of information and details on that.

. . . I hope this helps. Good luck!

Good for you for working so hard! I agree that you don't need to exercise every day. If you've been working this hard and not seen any results, I'm assuming you may be like me.

I used to work out very hard and really had the "no pain, no gain" philosophy. If I wasn't about to collapse after a workout, I felt like I had wasted my time. About a year ago, my mother (very big into fitness over the last several years) bought the Winsor pilates dvds. I did it once and thought it was too easy, and told my mom she wasted her money. She swore to me she started looking better than ever after doing it, but I told her it was all in her head.

However, beginning a few months ago, quite a few completely unrelated people at various random times began raving about how these winsor pilates tapes made them look amazing. I was stunned. So, I stole my mom's tapes, did the advanced workout for two weeks, and my pants were too big! Swear to god, it was that quick. Again, I'm the type of person who really puts as much into the workout as possible, so someone who just goes through the motions may not have as good of results. I also cut out almost all refined sugars (carbs). However, I'd done the dieting many times before and never had these results.

I've wondered if the hard workouts caused me to have stress and increase my cortisol levels? I don't know enough about this to say for sure, but the lower intensity workouts work much better for me. Also, I think they are more fun (I'm a former dancer and I love the gracefulness of them!) so it's easier for me to stick with my workout. I'm a firm believer that enjoying what you do is crucial to success.

I recommend the winsor for beginners to pilates because she really explains all the moves, but these days i mostly go to classes at my gym. I just found the "Classical Pilates Technique" dvd and love it! Also try some power yoga - i recommend rodney yee. (Power Yoga is more of a workout than other types)

In a nutshell: pilates, no bad carbs (whole wheat is fine), lots of fiber and water, and some jogging (or other cardio) and you should be slim and trim in no time! do other types of exercise for variety, but this is what worked for me!
