afterwards i took a look at the used words and the only __OLLY up until today was FOLLY.

CYMBAL and SYMBOL are homophones, so how could they not start with the same sound?
red herring may have been orchestral ... SYMPHONY, CONDUCTOR, DRUM, CYMBAL.
