Wonder wife not so wonderful about my weight

As a former wrestler I'm at risk of eating disorders.

Dr was going to approve me going down another weight. I was shocked. When I informed him that I tested at 7% body fat he tested my body fat level thinking I was wrong.

Don't recall what he tested it at. But he was of the opinion you should not go below 10%. That you could injure internal organs to easy in a minor car wreck. So I ended up with Dr orders to gain some weight.

I've always been thin thin. Well I was thin thin till I hit 40;) My wife has grabbed and poked my gut and accused me of being a glutton.

A few healthy tricks I have learned are

Fiber suppies in the middle of the night instead of eating. Plus this is better on you teath.

Also to drink a glass of water prior to eating your meal. This makes you feel fuller and lessons over eating.

Welcome to the forum.

Have you informed your doctor that you think you are at risk of an eating disorder or did your doctor tell your this himself?
Since it's a serious issue, he definitely should know about it.

Surf the forums here. There are a lot of people describing their personal experiences and it helps to know that you aren't alone in these kinds of things. You may also learn from their mistakes and take their good advice.

It is just a fact that former wrestlers are at risk of eating disorders.

Did do the vomit thing once. We had a two day meet. And after weigh in I drank a bunch of milk and a bunch of orange juice. One of my friends was like what are you stupid we have to weight in again tomarrow(sp? chromy thinks it's wrong with 1 or 2 rs) and I started to puke it all up.

Don't think I have an eating disorder; but, if I did do not think my wife's behavior would help at all.

I would be shocked if I was over 20% body fat. I don't work out as much as I should cuz I don't always get enough sleep due to working night shift.

ah I see.
Most of us have people in our lives that don't seem to be very supportive or at least they don't seem to think before they speak. We know they love us but they aren't helping us get better.

Surround yourself with people who understand... like us! ^_^ Hope to see you 'round the forum.

Tried to PM you but it wouldn't let me so I guess I'll just post it here and hope not to get banned.

Reading the siggy rulz not sure this forum could handle the siggy I wanted.

To be honest I was hoping it would be more siggy friendly and have an advert section. I followed journy7 here. Other then not being totally siggy friendly this looks like a good forum.

Anyway back to weight issues.

My brother got large. One of my uncles (not blood) always warned me about watching it once you get over 30. He was rail thin like me when he was young.

We have different biochemistries. Some can smoke and not get cancer.

My wife is on an anti carb kick. Carbs are okay if you work them off. I think she is mainly jealous of my fast metabolism. I'm a tad afraid if I slow down my eating to much that it will slow down my metab.

I don't think the forum would like it if you are here to promote fibre supplements.

About drinking so much milk. Pass it around amongst your fellow wrestlers that drinking high volumes of milk increases your risk of prostate cancer. Its not a proven fact yet but they say there is enough evidence to support this theory. I can't remember where i read it. Somewhere on wikipedia. Maybe about milk.

Anyway 6 or more glasses per day is considered too much milk it seems. Maybe try to keep it under a litre. I do'nt know what it is supposed to be in milk that could cause this but perhaps you should look into it if you are interested.

Being at risk of eating disorders - yeah like models i guess. They also often pick up a habit of bulimia to keep their weight down. I used to work at an eatings disorders clinic. Although i am not a health professional I saw and learned enough to know how dangerous bulimia and anorexia are. Very very bad disorders. Very difficult to treat also.

Don't take this personally, because I'm a very big skeptic of everybody, but...

What exactly is your intention here? The title of the thread makes it seems as if your wife isn't happy with your weight (as if she thinks you're too fat), but when I read your post, it seems that you're informing us that your doctors are telling you gain weight. And, you even say that you've always been 'thin thin'.

Are you here looking for advice to lose weight? Gain weight? What?

LOL I'm not here to sell fiber suppies.

I avoid potions and loations;)

The Dr orders on the weight gain was in the mid 80s.

I'm currently at a healthy weight.

Okay I could lose some but I'm very close to average if not on the below average side of the weight sprectum(sp.)

Are you going to start a weight loss diary? They are a good thing because they keep you focussed.

Sometimes diary's can backfire. I've actually gained weight since my wife started griping about it.

Trying to cut back makes me hungry. Dieting may be a BIG mistake.

Did give up pop!!! But subbing beef jerkey and other stuff may be more calories.

Getting the run around from American Family Insurance will State Farm help me out?

State Farm is my carrier. Believe stress can cause weight gain. Didn't eat for about 20 hours after I got hit. Just wasn't hungry.

What diet have you tried where you've not only cut back but you've also put on weight? That doesn't make any sense.

I agree that stress can lead to weight gain.

I am yet to be convinced that a diary could backfire. I"ve never seen any evidence of it.

How are you going to lose weight if you don't cut back your calories. Maybe you cut back too much.

Replace high calorie foods with low calorie foods and then you will have enough bulk in your diet to enable you to avoid hunger.

EAting vegetables and fruit helps with hunger avoidance. I think its their genearlly low GI rating, so the total meals satisfies for longer.

If you don't want to start a diary, how are you going to get the help you want from us? Are you asking questions in the On Topic section? or elsehwere around the site? Or are you reading around to information?

So, I was sifting through this thread again because none of it added up. Nothing was making sense, so I read through this thread one more time to try and piece things together. And, I noticed something. First of all, you talk about how you have always been thin in more than one post. You even say point blank...

I'm currently at a healthy weight.

If you are currently at a healthy weight, then what exactly are you looking for here? You were a wrestler; I'm sure you can figure out how to shape up. So, what do you need from us?

Anyway, I kept on sifting. And, then I pieced this together...

Why were you hoping that the forum would have an advertising section if you're not here to sell something?

You haven't asked for help in any of your posts; all you've done is make statements. And, your first statements looked exactly like the statements made by salesman who come here and try to push their products.

So, what do you want? Are you here to lose weight because you have a health problem? Or, are you just buying time until you can figure out how to spam us?
