Women doing Power 90 (not P 90X)

Anyone else out there doing this? I'm on week 3 and I'm bulking up like crazy. More strength is good, but my goal was weight loss and slimming down, not building up my biceps. Am I going to eventually slim down and look toned? How soon will I see results I want, instead of the opposite?

Wow, I haven't tried it, but was considering it after I started shedding some weight; around 20 pounds. Then I figured this could help get me where I need to be. I have a natural muscle build and don't want to bulk up. I hope someone can shed some light on this. My friend just ordered P90X for herself.

I find it very unlikely that you're "bulking up" at all. This is especially true if you're trying to lose weight and are in a calorie deficit at the moment. This of course doesn't include any possible initial muscle gains for a beginner new to strength training. Keep in mind that increased strength doesn't mean increased muscle mass. I'm stronger now that I was ~70 pounds ago....but I have less overall muscle mass. It's also possible that you're losing fat on your arms and they just appear more shapely. You should continue doing what you're doing. Don't stop the strength training portion of P90. It's nearly impossible for women to "bulk up" because they lack the testosterone that males have.

I am doing Power 90 and familiar with the program. I want to let you know that doing 12-15 reps with less weight will help with lean/sculpting and also diet is essential. If i can be of any more assistance let me know.
