Winter is a problem, isn't it?

Isn't it tough to lose weight over the winter? I'm in Ohio, and with the cold, it's just damn hard to get out and go exercise. Does anyone have any suggestions for fighting off the wintertime munchies? Let's not forget about Holiday eating either. When you put it all together, it's tough to see how anyone could lose any weight over these awful 4 months! (yeah, I know winter is only 3 months, but... including November, it's still really 4 months, at least in Ohio)

It's true many people gain weight over the Winter/holidays. It's probably all the Hot Chocolate (or other hot drinks), alcohol, large holiday meals and lack of exercise due to crappy weather.

Since I don't go to a gym, and generally don't do outside workouts, I hope to continue exercising (not that I have been exercising enough lately but still).

There are many things that can be done indoors, and with no equipment (which is what I do). You can search YouTube for workouts, or do the simple pushups, situps, jumping jacks type deal.

As for the eating, that one is harder and is basically self control I guess. Use a smaller plate, or put less on it. I know the food is usually really good, but that is really all you can do is control what you take and eat. If you are cooking, use more spices and less salt/butter/oil wherever possible. And of course the liquor, perhaps you can be the DD and have a reason not to drink? And if you do like to drink, try to cut down or do lower cal options and drink lots of water.

I know that there's at least one more person who knows what winter is! Anyone else want to help?
I refuse to let a perfectly good thread go to waste. :D

Hot chocolate is a big problem for me. BIG. I love it, and what's better on a cold morning? Nothing... as far as I'm concerned anyway..lol.

Last year I at least got a bunch of exercise shoveling just about everyday. I just moved into an apartment building though, so I won't be doing that this year.

Winter sucks. :p
