AI'm 6ft 2 and around 300 pounds and aiming to lose as much weight as possible in 6 months. I won't have a job so all my time will be dedicated to this. My plans so far is pretty unspecific but something like as follows:

Breakfast porridge and a banana with a litre of water
Walk on a treadmill for 3 hours
Lunch chicken salad or similar With water
General cardio for an hour followed by weights for 30 min, then 2 more hours on the tredmill
Supper, another meal with chicken or salmon in with water
Tredmill walking for 2 more hours
Bed.

I know you're meant to have a rest from cardio and weights a few times a week but I intend on just doing the tredmill walking when that is applied.

What are people's thoughts?

Hugo1990,

I am curious, why the 6 month time frame? Also, are you planning to do all of that exercise in one day?

AYeah, that exercise will all be done in one day, most days. And the reason for the time frame is that I am just graduating university and the parents have agreed weight loss would be a good idea before getting a job so we thought 6 months should be about right.

Hugo I think you can lose a significant amount of weight in 6 months, especially with your present dedication. I worry, though, that you might be doing too much in terms of exercise. Your food plan is okay but I just don't know that it's feasible to do that much exercise and one day, at least not for any length of time. Have you considered building a plan that will maximize your effort while minimizing your time in the gym? You can certainly do cardio and weights in the same workout and if you do each of them with focus and intensity, you won't have to do either of them as long and you can limit yourself to less workouts a week. Just a suggestion :)

The Paleo Diet is a good one but some people say that it isn't very sustainable neither! However, your exercise levels are actually quite ridiculous! I really would not even consider doing this. I was a university graduate last year and had the exact same motives as you!! You need to join a proper diet program- let me know if you want some more help!

I'm no expert - but 8 hours of cardio per day PLUS 30min. of weights? That's FAR too much. That's a full-time job, and I'm sure not healthy for your body and joints. Why don't you scale it down to an hour or so of cardio and an hour or so of weights? Just tone down your diet so it's low-fat, low-sugar, and natural - that alone will give you results. Please don't start off with unreasonable expectations - they're hard to reach, and that leads to discouragement, and discouragement leads to failure. Be reasonable about it - you have 6mo.! Go get em!

P.S. You say you want to lose weight before you go for a job - which is fine - but just a reminder, that most jobs won't turn you down because you're a little overweight. That's discrimination. So don't be so hard on yourself.
