Will this make me lose weight?

AHi guys

Im about to go into my 4th week on a low carb (sort of) diet. I have lost 10lbs in the first 3 weeks.

I will list what i usually eat and what exercise i do, i want to get rid of my little podgy belly and hips.

Im a 29 year old man and i am 6ft and now weigh 14st 5lbs (i weighed 15st 6lbs about 7 weeks ago)

I do have the occassional takeaway and also some 85% strength cocoa dark chocolate.

Usual food -

Breakfast - eggs or oatmeal with a drink of water and flax seed and psyllium husk
Lunch - salad with lettuce cucumber peppers cheese hard boiled eggs and chicken topped with mayo
Dinner - portion of meat with vegetables

When i fry i cook in olive oil or butter and my usual drink is water.

On a low carb diet you are supposed to do high fat low carb

Exercise -

20-30 intense(ish) bike ride 3-5 days per week
20-30 minute walk 3-4 times per week
20-30 swimming session once per week

Now I have lost 10lbs in 3 weeks (3lbs first week 6lbs second and 1lb third week) will i continue to lose weight? I do occassionally slip and i will have the occassional takeaway and beer as i cant live like a monk but i want to know if people think they weight will continue to drop?

My goals are;

First weigh 14st
Second weigh 13st 7lbs
Third and ultimate 13st

Any advice welcome. Thanks

I have also just been on an intense 1 hour bike ride, longest yet. Thoroughly enjoyed it so I may make that a regular thing at the weekend.

I honestly dont think I can see a physical difference with the 10lbs lost, other people say they can, but I wont be happy until the stomach and hips are gone - now I dont want wash board abs, I just want a flatter stomach.

I have just realised that this forum is American due to the time stamp, I am from the UK so its a bit later in the day here.

Hey Dan, welcome to the forum!

There's no way to tell if you will continue to lose weight on that plan or not... the only way you will know is to keep following it and see what happens. Try to stay consistent as much as possible, but still allow yourself some things that you enjoy, like the occassional beer. The tendency is to follow a strict plan for a week or two, then people start 'cheating' more and more, but they still believe that they are following their original plan, because it tends to happen gradually.

Hey There!

As I posted in an earlier thread, weight loss can be pretty basic. It's as simple as creating a deficit by burning more calories than you consume. A deficit of 3500 calories over the course of a week will equate to 1lb of fat lost. Now, the most important thing (in my opinion) is that you're not on a "diet". Being on a "diet" implies that there is an end point. If there is an end point, you may struggle to maintain the weight loss and often times this means more weight gained than you started with. The point being, let the fat loss happen, over a period of time, by making an overall change to your diet. As posted in the comment above, don't exclude everything you enjoy, just account for it. I like to use an iPhone app to track my daily calories so that I know where I stand.

I too am on a major weight loss journey and recently had a ton of success in round 1.

Good luck. I love helping others get the results I got and am always happy to lend a hand where I can :)
