Will they teach me?

I have a quick question, sounds a little stupid though.

I have a home gym. I have hex weights from 2lbs up to 60lbs, bench, bars and weights for them, the good old bow-flex and an elliptical machine (plus the yoga mat and balls and so forth). Hopefully it's enough, lord knows I have no more room for anything else.

I want to know if I went to a gym could I get a couple personal training sessions without having to get a membership to that gym? Can they help me with equipment that is similar to what I have? I've never been to one - but I would like to know if what I'm doing is proper.

There are personal trainers who train outside of gyms and/or train in people's homes. Look on whatever classifieds site you have in your area, or contact some trainers directly in the gyms in your area. Some are employees of the gym, so there might be a conflict of interest in them training outside that gym. However, some are independent and can train in multiple places.

I'd think that provided the weights you have are heavy enough you can get a great workout with dumbbells and the other gear you have. (I've been using mainly dumbbells for years and have gotten results.) Pulldowns/chinups etc have always been the most problematic for me equipment-wise. It sounds like you have that covered with the bowflex. Past that, the other gear I've used regularly are stability (swiss) balls and/or a bosu ball, neither of which take up that much room.

There are personal trainers that are self emplyed and sub themselves out to people just like you. Yes, you can find someone to come to your home, and devise a workout with what equipment you have, and help you reach any particular goals you might have.

Yep personal trainers will train people anywhere for money. Its often a little cheaper as well as they dont have issues of gym subsidies etc.
